Jana OstermanOvoid 4/9 - intimate, smooth, polished, cast gypsum, bronze sculpture2021
2021
About the Item
The undulating gentle curves of this sculpture by artist Jana Osterman emulate organic egg shaped forms found in nature. Created out of gypsum, polymer and bronze, the finish is patinated with acid which gives the piece a beautiful deep blue weathered finish. Layers of wax protect this sculpture so it can be handled easily. This is one in a series of nine and weighs 9lbs.
“The idea behind this was to create an intimate piece someone would pick up and touch, such as meditation beads or a touchstone.” Jana Osterman
Born in Slovenia, Jana Osterman moved to Holland where she studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. She continued with printmaking studies in England. For the last 20 years, Osterman has worked as a full-time artist and fabricator in Canada, first in Toronto and now in Prince Edward County, Ontario. Osterman’s artworks, including public commissions, are held in collections in Canada, Slovenia, Germany, England and Dubai.
