About

This tawny-colored wood sculpture is made from laminated wood coming from Arkansas. The stunning piece has strong geometric forms, but shows a figure that evokes Taino petroglyphs found in Puerto Rico. The forms of this wood sculpture have a rhythm and sensuality that is most pleasing from any vantage point. Martin Rubio is a New York City sculptor who has exhibited in major galleries and museums globally, including the Meguro Museum of Art in Tokyo, Japan; the Instituto de Cultura in San Juan; the Dallas Museum; the Wadsworth Museum; and the Philadelphia Museum. Sometimes included in the Nuyorican movement, Rubio's collectors live in Japan, France, Venezuela, and the United States.
