About the Item

This beautiful free standing table top sculpture is titled 'Captured Seasons' and is until the 22nd of May 2017 part of the solo exhibition of Pleunie Buyink in the Noordbrabants Museum in Den Bosch (Netherlands). All museum items are currently exclusively for sale via De Vries Art Gallery in Haarlem (Netherlands) and can be shipped immediately after the exhibition has ended. This medallion shaped, decorative sculpture has two sides. The warm colors of the gold/red/bronze side refer to the Summer season, the silver/green/blue side is a metaphor for the Winter Season. The mat black frame structure is made of powder coated steel. This item comes with a certificate of authenticity issued by the artist. Pleunie Buyink is a graduate from the Design Academy Eindhoven. She also holds a bachelor's degree in fashion design from the Artemis Art School Rotterdam. Her love for fashion- interior design and technical materials is a common element in Pleunie's work. She loves to experiment and create new materials and bringing those together using innovative techniques. She refers to her extraordinary wall art as 'Limber Gems' or flexible jewellery for the interior. The decorative. glamorous gems are made of a patented mix of composites and rubber, resulting in unique and highly esthetic objects. The surface of the artwork might look irregular, but in reality it is a flat surface. The relief structure is a visual effect in the artwork itself. The gems are flexible, which provides the possibility to use them in a creative way in the interior design. Whether draped on the floor, mounted to the wall or somewhere in between, the Limber Gems are adding a rich and glamorous sparkle to the interior. Her collection Limber Gems is a hit in the European interior and art scene and has launched Pleunie almost overnight into the highest ranks of emerging artists. Her work has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Vogue Living, Frame and many international design magazines. Her work was one of the highlights during the recent Dutch Design Week, Salone del Mobile Milan as well as during art exhibitions in Germany and Istanbul curated by fashion and trends guru Lidewij Edelkoort. All of this has resulted in the current solo exhibition at the Noord Brabants Museum in Den Bosch. When light touches a Limber Gem a magical interplay happens between the shiny crinkled background, the rough edges and the warm colours of the object. Limber Gems are behaving like chameleons, playing with light, depth and reflection. Each time the light changes, the visual expressiveness of the Limber Gem will change.
