Boky Hackel-Ward
Boky Hackel-Ward is a German-born sculptor, who began life as a conceptual artist, restorer of Old Master paintings, photographer, musician, writer and poet. As a conceptualist and a polyglot, language has always been extremely important in her work. Her work is honest and personal, exposing her vulnerabilities to the world, as a way to heal. Raw with emotion, her stance as a strong woman is untethered, yet hidden under a veil of fragility. Hackel-Ward’s first exhibition, "Somewhere Within", opened at Hilton Asmus Contemporary, in Chicago, in May 2019. It was the first time that she and her husband/sculptor, Blake Ward collaborated on a dual exhibition, in the United States.
