About the Item

Edition number : 1/8 ; Draws 8 + 4 Certificate : seal and signature by Dominique Mufraggi on the work and on the original certificate Dominique Mufraggi was born in 1958. He was graduated from the Ecole Boulle in 1978 with a degree in intaglio engraving, and turned his attention to volume, modeling and dinanderie. Always in search of the best plastic expression of the living, his style is quickly recognized by many of the Place Vendôme houses, with whom he works exclusively, in particular Cartier for over 25 years and Boucheron. His talent and aesthetic vision, particularly in the field of animals, were often called upon by these Houses to contribute to a large number of high jewelry and luxury object projects. His desire to "break with classic bronzes" and make them "not just metal" has led him to propose innovative sculptures, where bronze is not just bronze and the base is not just a base. It's a harmonious assemblage, carefully thought out and crafted, a synthesis of classic and design, where no stage of creation has been left to chance. He always works with a luxury mentality and his pieces took a very long time to be achieved. His creating inspiration comes from the classic style and he creates works that could be dated from the past but are from today and very rare. Inevitably influenced by his work in the world of haute joaillerie, his work reflects the search for a harmonious resonance between metal and mineral, but this time the mineral enhances the metal. And you can see about this work that each part of this work has been created separately to achieve the patina of the surface separately, then assembled together with small discreet and refined mechanisms. About this work "Coq", Dominique Mufraggi chose a silver obsidian to make the base of the sculpture and required a blue and black patina to play with light and create transparency in the bronze. The silver obsidian, left partially raw, evokes the animal's wild character. The black and blue colors are open to interpretation and personally remind him of the cassowary.
