About the Item

All Around Us is an immersive installation that people can walk through, surrounded by about 900 words that reflect the ambiguous bond between justice and the sacred, which is deeply connected to the maintenance, loss, and recovery of the optimal state of man. For example, the root √Man is at the core of the word 'mind,' representing a neutral ground, and like a pendulum, it swings between 'mania,' the deterioration of measure and charged with inebriated excesses, and 'mantica,' the art of divination, which transcends rational faculties through the ability to understand and interpret worldly signs. Or √Keil, which gives birth to ‘hale,' meaning in good health, ‘whole,' meaning undivided or complete, and ‘holy.' Or √Yew that, on one hand, gives us 'Jus,' meaning justice, and on the other hand, gives us 'juventus,' meaning youth, ‘yaoz,’ meaning life, and ‘java,’ meaning wheat, as a source of strength.

Fiber Sculpture: 'IMAGINATION'

Image, Imagination, Imitation: we can think these three words come from the roots √Im, but it’s not true. It’s necessary to combine the proposition in with mi, that is, √Mei, to obtain this kind of words. √Mei recalls something that catch the attention, that is intermittent and that can change. For the three following artworks we decided to decline the root starting from the concepts of light and sound, using a set of different languages, such as English, Russian, Sanskrit, Latin, Avestan, Greek and Persian, and to create shapes...

Fiber Wall Sculpture: 'Halo'
By Federica Patera and Andrea Sbra Pereg
Located in New York, NY
Federica Patera and Andrea Sbra Perego, namely tying literature and art with a thread. Their collaboration combines the experiences of both in a common work, with the intention of being a bridge, a confluence of the two disciplines. The duo was officially born in 2017 with the RAR project, which focuses on the value of the analogy in literature. At the heart of their investigation is the dynamic that leads reading to become writing, and other way the user to become a creator, a maker, mixing roles. The exchange that is established guarantees the transmission, that it goes beyond repetition and finds its completion in transformation. The eternity of an experience, whatever it is (physical, material, emotional, intellectual), is measured by its capacity to be an eternal breeding ground for discovery and knowledge. Their work was exhibited in solo shows by art galleries, such as Raffaella De Chirico Contemporary Art in Turin and Manuel Zoia Gallery in Milan, and in Art Fair such as ArtVerona and WOP in Lugano (CH). In 2021, they were finalists in the Cramum Award. Between October 2022 and January 2023, they took part in the World Textile Biennale – Italian Act, a series of three exhibitions curated by Barbara Pavan. In January 2023 they attended their first group show in New York at the Ivy Brown...

Untitled
By Guillaume Lachapelle
Located in Montreal, Quebec
Guillaume Lachapelle’s artistic practice is shaped predominantly by sculpture, expressed in the form of installations and detailed miniature models. Lachapelle presents playful universes which combine objects of undetermined purpose; in this way, he opens the conventions of our reality to fresh disposition. The architecture of his models – which Lachapelle has recently begun to make with the help of the latest 3-D printing technology – shows motifs originating from the everyday, certainly, but seeming strange, alienating or even uncanny when combined as the artist chooses. A kind of transition between two worlds often appears in Lachapelle’s work – for example when the model of a library filled with books curves inwards and reveals a mysterious opening pointing into darkness – these are the artist’s references to spaces and occurrences which may be concealed below the surface of outward semblance. Guillaume Lachapelle has participated in several solo and group exhibitions including Manèges at Circa – Centre d’Exposition Art Contemporain (Montreal) in 2006; Quebec Gold at the Ancien Collège des Jésuites (Rheims, France) in 2008 and in Abracadabra (Edward Day...
