"The Unicorn" ("La Licorne") is bronze sculpture figuring the bust of the legendary unicorn creature with a nude fairy body riding its mane, by Isabelle Jeandot. In the Middle Ages and Renaissance, it was commonly described as an extremely wild woodland creature, a symbol of purity and grace, which could be captured only by a virgin. In the encyclopedias, its horn was said to have the power to render poisoned water potable and to heal sickness. It is often used as a symbol of fantasy or rarity.
Passionate about the spirit, with her timeless and universal expression in the heart of the human condition, the artist Isabelle Jeandot questions the relationship between man and nature. Oneirism and alchemy, surrealism and poetry, sensuality and sacred feminine inspire and form the pattern of her art creations.
This Bronze is one edition of a limited series of eight original sculptures, and it will be delivered with the certificate of authenticity provided by the foundry.
