Raffinato busto in marmo bianco di Carrara raffigurante la dea Diana cacciatrice dopo l'originale di Jean-Antoine Houdon. Scuola francese, seconda metà del XIX secolo. Sul retro si legge "Houdon".
Diana Cacciatrice è una scultura in marmo e bronzo realizzata tra il 1776 e il 1790 da Jean-Antoine Houdon. Versioni si trovano nella Frick Collection di New York, al Museo del Louvre, al Museo Gulbenkian di Lisbona e alla Huntington Art Gallery di San Marino. L'opera è stata associata al movimento neoclassico per la fedeltà del volto all'Antichità. Il lato puro, impassibile e intimidatorio è classico. Anche l'aspetto estremamente raffinato e semplice dell'insieme è classicista. Così come la purezza lineare dei contorni. La serenità dell'insieme e la sua sincerità segnano sempre questo ritorno all'Antichità.
