About the Item

This architectural hanging cement head sculpture is defined by a distinctive lateral chestnut wood framework that surrounds the form like an external armature. In Project 23, the structure shifts outward from the head itself, creating a sense of spatial tension between the figurative core and its architectural perimeter. The result is a suspended sculptural object that operates simultaneously as portrait, framework and spatial diagram—an approach characteristic of the Proyectos subseries within José Perozo’s ongoing exploration of anthropotecture. Cast in high-hardness cement using a silicone mold, the sculpture retains the material traces inherent to concrete work: visible pores, tonal variations, fine chipping, slight abrasions and the surface irregularities typical of handmade casting. The layers of the head are hand-tinted with water-based pigments and sealed with a semi-matte varnish that preserves detail while emphasizing shifts between planes. Chestnut wood, treated with lasur, forms an external system of vertical and horizontal components that evoke scaffolding, construction grids or stabilizing supports. Fine aggregates ensure crisp modeling, while acrylic fibers and a water-reducing agent maintain structural integrity and prevent shrinkage cracking. Suspended from a 1 mm black steel cable (customizable up to three meters), the work lends itself to a wide range of contemporary interiors. Its combination of figuration, architectural logic and material experimentation positions it strongly within key 1stDibs categories including Small Sculptures, Hanging Sculptures and Figural Works, making it a compelling choice for the Holiday Gift Guide. Keywords such as architectural sculpture, suspended cement sculpture and collectible head sculpture enhance its discoverability among collectors seeking concept-driven, spatially constructed artworks.
