About the Item

Contemporary Forged Bamboo Sculpture by Luciano Zanoni Hand-Forged Steel, Customizable Base – Italy This striking contemporary sculpture by Italian artist Luciano Zanoni features seven hand-forged steel strands gracefully shaped to evoke the natural elegance of bamboo. Each strand is meticulously crafted with remarkable softness of form and securely anchored to a robust steel base. The base is finished with a top layer of gravel, adding texture and a refined, organic touch. And a butterfly. The sculpture is easy to dismantle and can be assembled in less than 10 minutes. Each stem is screwed onto the steel plate. Each sculpture measures approximately 50 x 50 cm (19.7 x 19.7 inches) at the base. The composition can be customized upon request. Additional stalks may be added to create larger, more impactful pieces (each additional stalk is priced between €1,500 €1,800). The base can also be tailored to client preference, including options such as stone (either geometric or sculpturally contoured). Here, we present a single sculpture, but if desired, a hedge can be created with other bamboo stems, as shown in one of the images taken from the exhibition at the MART in Rovereto, the famous museum in northern Italy, where the artist exhibited some time ago. About the Artist Luciano Zanoni (b. 1943, Caldes, Italy) is a master blacksmith and sculptor whose work explores the interplay between raw material and lyrical form. Encouraged by painter Paolo Vallorz early on, Zanoni gained national attention in 1977 when esteemed Italian critic Giovanni Testori discovered his work. His first major exhibition took place in Milan in 1979 to widespread acclaim. Over the course of his career, Zanoni has exhibited in more than 30 solo and 80 group shows worldwide, including Milan, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Athens, and Strasbourg. The MART Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rovereto, with curation by Gabriella Belli, has featured him twice. Notable admirers and critics, such as Jean Clair, Raffaele De Grada, Gian Alberto Dell’Acqua, and Giorgio Soavi, have written extensively about his oeuvre. In 1995, Zanoni completed a monumental olive tree sculpture for Bill Gates's personal collection in Seattle, Washington. Other significant commissions include public installations across Italy, such as the "Big Olive Tree" (2013) and "Big Apple Tree" (2014). Today, Luciano works alongside his son Ivan Zanoni, an independent artist since 1998. Together, they share a workshop in Trentino, Italy, where they continue to create commissioned artworks and honour their family’s blacksmithing heritage. Custom commissions are available upon request.

Grave stone naturalistic cross wrought iron outdoor sculpture, gold bee
By Ivan Zanoni
Located in Milan, IT
Calvary naturalistic tree. Unique piece, not replicable. Hand-forged in wrought iron by the outstanding Italian sculptor Ivan Zanoni. This sculpture in the form of a Cross is animated by natural elements and insects and is one of the most striking examples of the liveliness and singularity with which Ivan Zanoni knows how to forge iron and mould it according to his own sensitivity. The Cross was the sculptural work chosen to welcome visitors to the 2024 solo exhibition that the prestigious Mart Museum in Rovereto - one of Italy's leading institutions for contemporary art - has dedicated to him. Renowned for his wrought iron creations, Ivan Zanoni is internationally recognised as one of today's most significant iron sculptors. His mastery of the medium lends an organic vitality to the metal, particularly in his evocative depictions of plants and animals. Born and living in Caldes (Trentino, Italy), Zanoni inherited his passion and skill from his father, Luciano Zanoni. A revered craftsman, Zanoni created a four-metre monumental olive tree sculpture...
