About the Item
Outdoor playful interactive sculpture. Can you see yourself? The female form in gray-blue steel; her head a reflective mirror is the subject of this imaginative sculpture by Canadian artist, Robert Clarke Ellis. These laser-cut pieces are painted so they absorb light and cast their own curious shadows. Clarke Ellis’s new work integrates minimalist forms with playful, even theatrical themes.

He has an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art and a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD). He began his career as an instructor at NSCAD before completing a degree in education from Queen's University.

R. Clark Ellis
Robert Clarke Ellis holds an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art and a BFA from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. He began his career as a Sculpture Technician/ Instructor at NSCAD before completing a B.Ed. from Queen’s University. Ellis had a successful career as a high school Art and Welding teacher. He has been able to sculpt full time in his own studio for several years. Ellis’ work integrates abstract figures that reference common events and/or conversations designed to become a starting point for the viewer’s reflection. His work has been exhibited and held in private collections in Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Michigan.
