Abstract metal rhino head metal sculpture by Mexican artist and sculptor. Signed and editioned by artist at the left side.
Artist Biography: Sergio Bustamante is a Mexican sculptor best known for his depictions of animals and inventive humanoid creatures. Working in papier maché, wood, bronze, and ceramic, Bustamante’s sculptures are often painted or glazed, allowing him to bring even greater heights of imagination and surrealism to his creatures. Born in 1942 in Sinaloa, Mexico, he went on to study architecture at the University of Guadajara, leaving before he finished his degree in order to focus on craftmaking and fine art. Bustamante had his first exhibition at Galeria Misrachi in Mexico City in 1966, and continues to exhibit his work around the world. The artist lives and works in Mexico.

Sergio Bustamante
Sergio Bustamante studied architecture at the University of Guadalajara, and sold his artwork while in school, beginning in 1960. After graduating, he worked with local ceramicists, eventually opening his studio. In 1972, Bustamante moved to Amsterdam, where he learned more about painting and design. In 1975, he established his Family Workshop Studio in Tiaquepaque, Mexico. His monumental sculptures can be found in several cities, including Puerto Vallarta, Guadalajara, and Tiaquepaque.
