The KAWS Along The Way figurine is a rendition of the artist's 2013 18 foot wood sculpture originally exhibited at Mary Boone gallery NY. Along the Way presents a unique pose for KAWS’s signature Companion characters. KAWS' design features two of his iconic companions leaning on each other for emotional support, hands heavy, and eyes cast downward. Two years later, KAWS supersized the composition, installing an 18-foot-tall wooden version of Along the Way in the lobby of the Brooklyn Museum, which the museum also acquired for its permanent collection. Large scale versions of Along the Way have also been exhibited at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, Yorkshire Sculpture Park in England, the Yuz Museum in Shanghai, and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth in Texas.

KAWS is an American graffiti artist and designer known for his toys, paintings, and prints. Born Brian Donnelly on November 4, 1974 in Jersey City, NJ, KAWS graduated with a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York and went on to work in animation. “When your whole art is based on the lettering you choose, you kinda figure out what ones work together. I just liked the shapes of the k, a, w, s,” he explained of his moniker. Having started as a graffiti artist in New York in the early 1990s, KAWS began reworking advertisements in his distinctive style. Pop Art and culture permeate his cartoonish Companion series of figurines, which bear a resemblance to the works of Takashi Murakami. The artist is also known for his large scale public installations, such as 2019’s KAWS: Holiday which was installed in the Hong Kong harbor during Basel Hong Kong. In 2019, THE KAWS ALBUM (2005) sold at auction for a record $14.8 million, breaking his previous record of $2.7 million which was set in 2018. This work is a take on the Beatles' famous 1967 album cover for Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, but instead replaced with characters from The Simpsons with the artist's signature Xs drawn across their eyes and skull. After years in the industry, KAWS gained approval from his peers in the street art world and more recently prestige from the museum and gallery worlds. His work today can be found in the collections at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, and the Rosenblum Collection in Paris. KAWS currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.

BE@RBRICKs are a form of collectible toy that resemble a cross between LEGO and well, a bear. These block-style figurines boast teddy bear-style heads that have become an integral pillar of the collectible toy scene. In fact, it wouldn’t be so far-fetched to say that it almost single-handedly carved out the fad of toy collecting in modern times, treading the very fine line between toy and art. Since its inception, BE@RBRICKs have become one of the most recognizable characters in the world, and some of the most sought after.
Jackson Pollock was one of the most famous Post-War American artists. A pioneer of Abstract Expressionism, Pollock’s drip paintings ushered in a new era of non-representational art. “It doesn't make much difference how the paint is put on as long as something has been said,” he once remarked. “Technique is just a means of arriving at a statement.” Born Paul Jackson Pollock on January 28, 1912 in Cody, WY, he studied painting at the Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles during the late 1920s, where he befriended Philip Guston. In the fall of 1930, Pollock moved to New York where he studied under the Regionalist painter Thomas Hart Benton at the Art Students League. Joining the WPA in 1937, Pollock painted murals around the country in a style reminiscent both of Benton and the Mexican muralist José Clemente Orozco. After the WPA program ended, Pollock took on a number of odd jobs and began producing Surrealist works related to those of Joan Miró. An early champion of his work, Peggy Guggenheim hosted Pollock’s first solo show at her gallery Art of This Century in 1943. The paintings that emerged from his Long Island studio during the late 1940s came to exemplify his entire career. Works such as Blue Poles (1952), generated enormous media attention, and turned Pollock into a celebrity beyond the scope of the art world. At the age of 44, his celebrated career was cut short when the artist died in a car accident involving his mistress Ruth Kligman, on August 11, 1956 in East Hampton, NY. Spanning the worlds of graffiti, pop art, and consumer culture, KAWS’ bodies of work are highly charged, each conveying his underlying wit, irreverence, and affection for our times. He has primarily looked to and appropriated from pop-culture animations (including The Smurfs, The Simpsons, SpongeBob, and Peanuts) to form his artistic vocabulary for his paintings, drawings, and sculptures. Now well known for his larger-than-life sculptures and hard-edge paintings that emphasize line and color, KAWS’s cast of hybrid cartoon/human characters, with similarities to popular cartoon figures and logos like Mickey Mouse and the Michelin Man, are perhaps the strongest examples of his exploration of humanity. These figures have amicable names—Chum, Companion, Accomplice—and express and provoke an array of human emotions, from sad, overwhelmed, pathetic, and weary, to shy.
