These are figurative works, of classical or archaic inspiration, reinterpreted using strictly contemporary signs and communicative languages, decontextualized and transformed into decorative elements: bar codes, qr codes, wi-fi icons, @, symbols of well-known advertising campaigns, numbers / formulas, which combine to form the vision of a dystopian archeology of the future which bring the individual closer to goods or objects, traces of mechanical or computer elements, which testify to a reality, ours, which has already happened, already lived. It is like an eye on the archeology of a distant future, or on a contemporary discovery that indicates an end already seen, towards which we can move. The metal structures are supports that enter the composition and the aesthetic vision and communication of the topics covered. Porcelain Book Holder (Two Piece) Deniz Pireci's works; He tries to rediscover all the meanings contained in ceramics as a tool, to emphasize them even more, and sometimes simply to reveal them. As a tool, it is obvious that porcelain refers to fragility, craft, handcraft as well as mystery and the invisible. The use of porcelain in the field of contemporary art necessarily encompasses all these concepts, which it evokes as a material, within its scope. Pireci produces works that are included in many different trends with its approach to materials and art. At the same time, it not only questions our sovereignty over images, it creates an opportunity for us to lose it for a while. (Aysegul Sonmez) Deniz Pireci, who deals with issues such as migration, locality, identity, cultural difference and gender from different perspectives in her art practice, was born in Istanbul. She graduated, Ceramic Department of Marmara University Fine Arts Faculty. This is an original, unique ceramic sculpture by Sarah Louise Davey on a black wooden base. The piece measures 44” x 19” x 21”. Please note: This piece is pictured with the base on top of a black pedestal and a white pedestal. The black base of the sculpture is included, but the pedestals are not included. Artist Statement: "The art of making, for me, is very much a response to the human condition of needing to connect to one another, as well as to what lies just beyond the borders of our realities. I am drawn to the idea that art can have the ability to affect those who look upon it, allowing these portraits to be conduits to a realm within our subconscious. Although my females are hard ceramic sculptures, their hollow, eggshell-like interiors feel like a glove or a mask that can easily be slipped on and off, like the psychic armor of a distant self. An introspective dialogue is started as I make each piece, invoking a surreal understanding of the physical and emotional auras of these strange beauties. Heavy in symbolism, they illustrate the psychological scope of a hybrid creature. Their wide-eyed gazes are meant to portray an emotional duality that is constantly evolving.
