In this sculpture, the artist explores one of the central motifs in his work — the tree, to which he assigns profound symbolic significance. For him, the tree represents a bridge between earth and sky, depth and air, embodying both strength and balance. Deeply attuned to nature and the cycles of life, Oliva reinterprets this symbolism by positioning the trunks horizontally, inviting the viewer to engage in a more contemplative reflection on perspective and connection.
Czech sculptor Ondřej Oliva draws inspiration from the natural world as well as from ordinary, everyday objects — even familiar foods — which he transforms into evocative sculptures rich in associations and layered meanings. The choice of material plays a crucial role in his creative process. Working primarily with bronze and aluminium, Oliva seeks durability and precision. The use of aluminium in this particular piece reflects his preference for a medium that enables exceptional finesse and detail in form.
