Traditional dwellings, or rumah adat, have also been influenced by invaders, colonizers, missionaries, merchants, and traders. This traditional 19th century Indonesian architectural ornament is a rectangular-shaped carved piece of wood with an interior square. The ornament is embellished with painted gold vegetal carvings on a red ground.
