Art Dealers Association of America

Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA)
Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA)
Founded in 1962, the Art Dealers Association of America is a vetted community of more than 180 top-tier galleries across the United States. Working with these member galleries, ADAA appraisers offer assessment services for artworks spanning from the Renaissance to the present day. The ADAA also arranges public forums on important art-related topics and hosts The Art Show, presented each year at New York’s Park Avenue Armory, which stands out among art fairs for its acclaimed selection of curated booths — many of which are one-artist exhibitions.

Perito Moreno Glacier, Argentina
By Luca Campigotto
Located in New York, NY
Archival pigment print, framed to 31 x 73.5 inches Signed, titled, dated and editioned on label verso. Edition 15. Luca Campigotto uses big equipment to capture big subjects, from the absolute vibrant density of 5POINTZ at night, to the eerie stillness of the stone statues on Easter Island, to sweeping cityscapes of Manhattan and Chicago skylines. His photographic expeditions have taken him to disparate and exotic locations around the world – Japan, India, Thailand, Cambodia in the Far East; many European and North American cities; as well as Cairo, Lapland, Argentina, and Easter Island. Campigotto uses both large-format and digital cameras for his projects. His cityscapes feature blurred lines of traffic recorded over long exposures, in bustling settings like Times Square, and yet a stillness pervades his work, a sense of vulnerability. Some of his 5POINTZ images were captured just days before the buildings were white-washed; his Argentine glacier is retreating; the Easter Island statues stand testament to lost civilizations. The image offered here was featured in his monograph "My Wild Places," and portrays the front advancing edge of the famed Perito Moreno Glacier...

Staten Island Ferry Crew, New York City
By Neal Slavin
Located in New York, NY
24 x 24 inch digital chromogenic print Edition 15 + 3AP Signed, titled, dated and editioned on frame label provided Neal Slavin, a native New Yorker, began photographing groups in 1972. He quickly realized that shooting in color yielded greater nuance and detail, placing him among the first generation of photographers, along with William Eggleston and Joel Meyerowitz, to fully embrace color. Over the past four decades, Slavin has recorded hundreds of groups from the most obscure to the most celebrated, both in the US and abroad: Sabrett Hot Dog vendors, NYC; The Silurian Border Morris Men, Herefordshire; the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Salt Lake City; Elephant Keepers with Katie and Kumara, Bedfordshire; and the Mahayana Buddhist Service, NYC. He has published three books: “Portugal” (Lustrum Press, 1971), “When Two or More Are Gathered Together” (Farrar Straus Giroux, 1974); and “Britons” (Aperture, 1986). His prints have been acquired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the Centre Pompidou, Paris; the International Center of Photography (ICP), New York; the National Portrait Gallery and the National Museum of American Art, Washington, DC; the National Media Museum, London; and the John Paul Getty...

A Train (from the series A Story of the New York Subway)
By Kazuo Sumida
Located in New York, NY
11 x 14 inch gelatin silver print. Edition 15. Signed on verso. Kazuo Sumida first visited New York in 1995. He found the city to be one of “both bustle and silence,” particularly the underground world of the subway, where he encountered “a place full of characters.” By 2002, he had produced a large body of work of images taken in this subterranean metropolis – tender scenes of lovers and children; gritty portraits of beggars for whom the subway is home; artists, musicians, commuters, and others who pass through the tunnels on their daily journeys. The resulting monograph, A Story of the New York Subway, was published in 2002. Sumida was born in 1952 in Kochi Prefecture in southern Japan. Although photography was not his formal career, Sumida has pursued the art throughout his life. He graduated from Osaka Photography Graduate School in 1983, and also studied at the International Center of Photography in New York, on a fellowship from the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs. He lives in Japan, and continues to visit New York frequently. His work has been shown at the Tokyo Ginza Kodak Photo...
