Sir Montagu-Roger Burgoyne, eighth baronet (d. 1817), army officer, was, like his father, a cavalry officer who rose to the rank of major-general. He entered the army as cornet in the Scots Greys in 1789, and in 1795 became lieutenant-colonel ofthe 32nd light dragoon guards. He was afterwards an inspecting field officer of yeomanry and volunteer corps. On 1 November 1791 he married Catherine (1772/3?1855), daughter of John Burton of Owlerton, Yorkshire; they had three sons and three daughters. Burgoyne died at his mother's house on Oxford Street, London, on 11 August 1817, whereupon the baronetcy passed to his eldest son, John-Montagu Burgoyne
George Garrard ARA (31 May 1760 – 8 October 1826) was an English animal, landscape and portrait painter, modeller, sculptor, engraver and printmaker. He played a major role in lobbying Parliament to introduce legislation to protect the copyright of works by modellers of animal and human figures.
Garrard came from a family of artists, tracing his descent back to Marcus Gheeraerts the Younger (c. 1561/62–1636) who was a painter to Queen Elizabeth I of England. He studied art first under a well-known drawing-master called Joseph Simpson,[3] then with Sawrey Gilpin, and in 1778 became a student of the Royal Academy, where, in 1781, he first exhibited some pictures of horses...

This is a highly decorative, ironstone, twin handled circular footed Bowl by John Ridgway, dating to the English William 1Vth period, circa 1835 .
The bowl has been carefully hand-painted in bold colorful enamels with a chinoiserie pattern of three oriental people travelling on a boat, pattern number 5057. It is also richly hand gilded.
John Ridgway operated at his father’s celebrated Cauldon Place works, Shelton, Hanley, England, between 1830-1856, producing some fine porcelain and stone China of excellent quality. His stone China earthenwares and ironstone wares are discussed on page 305 of Godden's Guide to Ironstone, Stone and Granite Wares written by Geoffrey Godden for the Antique Collectors Club.

This unusual cabinet features a cube parquetry top with a back splash centered with a plume of bronze feathers and flowers, above a long single drawer with a bronze leaf-clasped scallop shell and two handles shaped as wings, the sides headed by foliate and flower-cast clasps. The cabinet was most likely made to store magazines or original phonograph records.

Linke was born in Pankraz in Bohemia and was celebrated by the French as one of the greatest ébénistes of meubles de style at the turn of the century. He began his apprenticeship with a Bohemian master at the age of thirteen. Four years later, he toured Austria, settling and working in Vienna for two years. Linke arrived in Paris 1875, and by 1881 he had established his own small workshop at 170 rue du Faubourg St. Antoine. Taking 18th century styles as his starting point and adapting earlier styles to contemporary taste, Linke produced fine quality furniture, steadily expanding his business during the next 20 years. He firmly established his reputation after receiving a gold medal at the Paris Universal Exhibition of 1900 for his extraordinary Grand Bureau. He continued to use international fairs as a means of exploring new markets, exhibiting at the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis, the Liege in Belgium and the 1908 Franco-British exhibition in London. Linke’s highly original designs sprang from the Régence and Rococo styles but were imbued with something quite new, Rococo curves were laden with gilt-bronze sculptural mounts in the tradition of A.-C. Boulle (1642-1732) or Charles Cressent (1685-1758). Stylistically, the new designs still adhered to the Rococo; the novelty, however, was Linke’s fusion of the Rococo with the liveliness and the fluidity of the ‘art nouveau’. This is a beautiful antique French Charles X burr maple bookcase with fabulous ormolu mounts, circa 1820 in date.
It has been crafted from the finest burr maple and is decorated with finely cast ormolu mounts typical of the Empire style.
It features a pair of astragal glazed doors enclosing two adjustable shelves, above a further pair of panelled doors enclosing an adjustable shelf, flanked by maple columns with finely detailed ormolu Corinthian Capitals.
The cabinet is raised on decorative shaped block feet.
This opulent bookcase will be the focal point of any room and will blend very well with contemporary interiors.
Complete with the original working locks and keys.
Condition:

Charles X
Charles Philippe; 9 October 1757 – 6 November 1836, was known for most of his life as the Count of Artois before he reigned as King of France from 16 September 1824 until 2 August 1830. An uncle of the uncrowned King Louis XVII, and younger brother to reigning Kings Louis XVI and Louis XVIII, he supported the latter in exile and eventually succeeded him. His rule of almost six years ended in the July Revolution of 1830, which resulted in his abdication and the election of Louis Philippe, Duke of Orléans, as King of the French. Mid Victorian Side Chair Finely Hand Carved with Wool Work Seat, Circa 1850

This is a very good quality example of an English occasional side chair in the Rococo style, from the mid Victorian period, circa 1850, made from Beech.
The back is a Classic balloon back shape, but with intricate cut-out and carved detail to the frame and particularly to the cross splat. This carved detail is continued on the front legs and front stretcher. The foot of the legs are splayed slightly outwards which adds to the features of this chair. Twin side stretchers give additional strength to this chair but overall this is a delicately made chair.
It has a good wool-work covered seat with a rose spray design.

This chair is not a strong dining room chair and is not recommended for regular use as a chair to sit on. The chair is light and would make a very pretty bedroom or hall side chair, to be used principally for display either on its own or with say teddy bears displayed on it, or for draping light...
