- Is blue coral natural?1 Answer1stDibs ExpertApril 5, 2022Some of it is. While imitation blue coral is made from a variety of materials, including polyresin, natural blue coral is a vulnerable species unique to the Indian and Pacific oceans in the tropics. Commonly found in shallow waters off Ishigaki Island in southwest Japan, blue coral has a skeleton made of aragonite, and it’s the only species in the Helioporidae family.
