Hand-painted W. Britains, Ltd. toy soldiers from the set #1607, an assemblage of five troopers from the 2nd Dragoons Regiment (Royal Scots Greys) mounted on walking grey horses.

I have a large selection of vintage toy soldiers and civilians in my shop.

These toys were hand-painted by women in the Britains Ltd, London factory, after the molds were filled by young men.

This is Britains Ltd set #9401, "Her Majesty's State Coach" with a team of eight Windsor grey horses, four Postilions in state livery, and Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.

Today these are no longer used as toys, but are avidly collected by adults.

W. Britain LTD set #1711: "French Foreign Legion, Marching at the Slope, with Mounted Officer (L'Armee Francais: La Legion Etrangere), without the box.

This set of five toy figures are from Britains Set #9156, "Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Summer Dress, Dismounted".

Each figure is unique because of the hand-painting and all have the charm of folk art. This variety of toy was no longer produced after 1966. They are now collected by aficionados.
