She's Her Own Justice
Located in New Orleans, LA
Born in New Orleans, Horton Humble is a self-taught American painter. His debut show in 2007, entitled Debris, featured a series of paintings using wood from the Hurricane Katrina wreckage centered on themes of a lost city and water as a powerful force. In 2008, he embarked on a one-year journey through Africa for his next series Transit Urban, which included twelve paintings using local traditional fabrics depicting the energy of the people, land and culture. Each piece was drafted on site and later accompanied him on his other travels from Europe to US. Enchanted by the old and mestizo city, he returned to Lisbon in 2012 where he lived for almost three years and created The Lisbon Series influenced by the discovery of a new medium; ceramics and its modeling techniques. After this productive period in Portugal, Humble again returned home and established his studio with a group of fellow artists in New Orleans and co-founded the Level Artist Collective in 2015. At this time, his paintings on wood panels captured his impressions of a post- Katrina city represented inside of human head figures transitioning his previous subject matter into a new territory (US) and its social problematic. In 2017, Horton Humble was a resident artist at the Joan Mitchell Center in New Orleans and named “one of the most talented young painters producing in the South today” by Bradley Sumrall, curator of the Ogden Museum of Southern Art (Curator's Choice, Country Roads Magazine). Through the summer he created his first public sculpture in steel, The Guardian, commissioned by the Helis Foundation for the Pyodras Corridor project- Sculpture for New Orleans. Currently, Humble is creating his most ambitious work, large-scale canvases in which he is releasing the formality of his detail obsession into a more dynamic and expressive work. Horton Humble is a founding member of LEVEL Collective and was a 2015/2017 nominee for the United States Artists Fellowship. His works are included in public and private collections, showcased at the Poydras Corridor, LA; Prizm Art Fair, FL; Atlanta Contemporary Biennial, GA; Ohr-O`Keefe Museum of Art, MS; Luciano´s...

August in Full Dress, Oil Painting
By George Peebles
Located in San Francisco, CA

Artist Comments
A stand of deep violet trees on the horizon in striking contrast to the bright blue sky. Using swift brushwork, artist George Peebles creates a calm and peaceful scenic view. George is known for his dramatic autumn landscapes and panoramic ocean vistas. He enjoys painting brief, electric moments in nature. George draws on his surroundings in Michigan but ultimately paints entirely from his imagination.

About the Artist
George Peebles is an award-winning artist specializing in contemporary landscape oils. His paintings are characterized by their pleasing combination of brilliant hues and rich skies. He describes his art as a reflection of the place inside each of us where we connect to nature. Painted from memory, each stroke is an inward expression of his emotions. George views his work as a lifelong process that leads him to new concepts and ideas best expressed on his canvas.

Winter Birds, Original Painting
By Jessica JH Roller
Located in San Francisco, CA

Artist Comments
"After a seemingly eternal summer, five little birds snug in their nest, silently enduring the chill and wind," describes artist Jessica JH Roller. The birds each carry a unique design, colored in similar hues of turquoise, black, beige, and brown. A bright band of orange and turquoise appears above the birds shifting into beige and dark green hues. A balanced composition painted in folk-art style with an energetic palette.

About the Artist
A few months after Jessica JH Roller and her husband were married, they adopted two young Siamese cats from a shelter -- Tony and Larry. Jessica quickly fell deeply in love with the kittens and says the cats changed her. "They opened my eyes - I started to notice birds, trees, water, color, everything. It was as if the artist inside had been unleashed.” Jessica uses bold colors and primitive linework to create whimsical, expressive portraits. She intends to capture real or imagined moments that are both common and extraordinary.

French Surrealism Oil Painting Pierre Henry Surrealist Color Flowers in Vase
Located in Surfside, FL
Pierre Henry (1924 - 2015) Hand signed and dated '66 lower right. Dimensions: (Frame) H 29.25" x W 13.25" ; (Painting) H 23.75" x W 8" Intentionally crackled paint finish. Pierre-Henry sociétaire des grands Salons à Paris et vice-président de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts. PIerre Henry studied painting, the art of fresco and of etching in the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts, in Paris. Since 1950, his first exhibition, his talent led him to become one of the leaders of the French figurative expressionist school. He was of the period of Jean jansem and Pierre Serrier andBernard Buffet "I believe that the artists, painters, poets, and musicians, are our society’s prophets, its preachers. They bear witness to their anguish face to face with humanity in total confusion, which feels and knows it is threatened. At first smooth, the painting slowly acquires reliefs. The lacquer color is dazzling and the backgrounds alone make up genuine paintings. That especially sumptuous texture emphasizes their graphic precision. Smooth paint, flattened out, provides a lacquered effect, and brings to mind the great Flemish masters’ works. Of the generation of great post war French artists he has shown with Jean Pierre Alaux, Lucien Philippe Moretti, Edouard Pignon, Henri Michaux, Guy Cambier, Jean Fusaro, Mara Tran Long, Claude Mourier...

House and Barn, Oil Painting
By Brian McCarty
Located in San Francisco, CA

Artist Comments
Artist Brian McCarty depicts a quiet rural home behind a red barn. Surrounded by a field of grass and autumnal trees, a car sits on the winding dirt path. "Everyday life is caught in a moment," says Brian. "Arriving home, or getting ready to leave home. A lazy afternoon." Just the type of subject Brian loves to paint.

About the Artist
Artist Brian McCarty paints idyllic landscapes and bucolic architecture. “Growing up in rural New Jersey, I’ve always found old houses, barns, and the countryside interesting subjects,” says Brian. Influenced by his mom who was a self-taught artist and art teacher, she encouraged Brian to pursue anything artistic. After graduating from Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art and earning his BA in Art from Thomas Edison State College, he worked professionally as a graphic designer in New York for the largest publishing houses in the country. A career that spanned thirty-six years. Brian has done comedy and sketch writing with the Groundling Theater, and worked in a few major feature films as an actor. To begin his process, Brian takes photos of his references with an iPad, crops the images to his liking, and paints directly on his canvas with a quick oil wash. Recently returning to painting full time, he converted a room in his house into a working studio. “I get lots of natural light, and listen to music and podcasts while I paint.”
