Xia FuNing was born on 09/01/ 1962 in Nanjing, Jiangsu province. In 1981, he studied in the department of Fine art of Su-Zhou university. He was once a professor in the Department of Fine Arts in 1985 in Tianjin Polytechnic University. Since 2020 , he has been invited specially as postgraduate tutor in the Department of Fine-arts of
Nanjing normal university, and currently lives and works in Song Zhuang Art Colony, Beijing, China.
Zhuangzi et Laozi’s philosophy has exercised a great influence on Xia’s artworks. In his oriental vision, Xia realized that “Qi (the character signi es the original reality, breath of life), the major component of life, is of great signi cance in painting.
Chinese people adopt the phrase “Qi-Xi (signifying breath, xi means the process of breathing) to perceive the intrinsic aspect of art in a more vivid and essential manner, displaying the origin and status of object existence. In his works, the artist arranges the daily intimate surroundings in “Qi-Xi(breathing) ”by means of his unique visual logic, surpasses the transient and restricted nature, retrieves the poetic and spiritual feature of their existence origin, thus attaining freedom and eternity.

"Part of the meditation process is to allow your mind to clear, follow a journey, and allow thoughts to pass through," says artist Candice Eisenfeld. "The vertical, thin section in the middle is an abstracted version of the landscape, it is varnished while the other parts have no gloss. This process was done to illustrate how our perceptions of the world and experiences can change, and how we can recognize these lenses to achieve clarity. The left side depicts peaceful, floating, abstracted thoughts."
About the Artist
As an American exploring issues of identity, artist Candice Eisenfeld paints through the lens of the first American art movement, the Hudson River School. Rather than depicting a specific locale, Candice’s artwork evokes a sense of place. These "inner landscapes" are invented, and often reference photographs taken during travels in southern Appalachia and the Blue Ridge and Smokey Mountains. Whether real or imagined, her paintings are influenced by the Dutch Masters, Tonalists, and Chinese painting. Produced on a single wooden panel, the ethereal landscapes are often joined with segments of aqueous color fields which act as commentary for the landscapes, like the chorus in a Greek play. The crisp, hard edges separating the landscapes from the color fields command a sense of order in an otherwise fluid and painterly surface. With two or three sections of the panel competing for attention, the painting creates multiple focal points. Imogene Robinson was born in Attleboro, Massachusetts, at the beginning of the 19th century. She studied art at the age of 16 in Newark New Jersey, then in New York City. In 1856, Robinson went to Europe for the first time. She studied under Adolf Schroeder and Wilhelm Camphausen in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Then, Europe called to her again. She went with a friend, Elizabeth Gardner. In July 1864, they arrived in Paris and made a living copying great works from the Louvre and Luxemburg museums for American patrons. The two artists were in close contact with the colony of American artists in Paris, but they likewise befriended French painters Meissonnier and Bouguereau. In 1869, Imogene Robinson married Colonel Abraham Morrell. In 1871, Gardner moved into her last place, 73 rue des Petits Champs and became neighbors with Bouguereau. Several years later, in 1895, she married him.
As long as we can follow her official path to the Salons of 1868 and 1869, her entrée as the first woman at the Academy Jullian in 1873, we observe that Robinson Morrell did not participate in the Parisian art demonstrations. She studied portraiture and landscapes under François–Louis Français (1814-1879), and took certain courses taught by Thomas Couture (1815-1879), the last historical painter of the second half of the 19th century. Couture received many students, most notably Americans including Hunt and Longfellow. It was during this period that Imogene Robinson Morrell began her great historical compositions and painted our version of the First battle between the puritans...
