Benaras, Acrylic on Canvas by Contemporary Indian Artist "In Stock"
By Dilip Chaudhury
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Dilip Chaudhury - Benaras - 12 x 12 inches (unframed size) Acrylic on canvas Inclusive of shipment in roll form. Style : Dilip Chaudhury's works depict the Bengali countryside and his hometown Kolkata bathed in the monsoon rains. His black and white works are ever popular though of late he has been dabbling in colour. Dilip Chaudhury has been painting various scenes from everyday life of Calcutta & sometimes Banaras, in watercolour. From ancient monuments, streets & ghats, to a rickshaw puller in action, he is captured it all, beautifully. To somebody who has even a remote connection with Calcutta, he manages to bring a wave of nostalgia, as he symbolizes the character of the city of joy in his work. Like a true artist who has not been afraid of trying his hand at almost every subject and medium under the sun, Dilip has metamorphosed into a sought – after artist with a niche skill of creating above all, subjects of abundant beauty and character with a strong sense of perspective. A touch of red in his paintings symbolises optimism. Dilip has executed truly riveting canvasses, each of which has a unique story to narrate. They are not flat but have grandeur, movement, people and therefore, life infused into them. Sometimes Dilip uses his imagination to highlight the simple rickshaw puller of Kolkata. He creates stylistic compositions from unusual angles, which succeed in enthralling the viewer. About the Artist & his works : Born : Kolkata, West Bengal. Educational Qualifications : 1986 : Fine Arts Graduate from Indian Art College, Kolkata, 1st Class First with gold medal Art Appreciation Course from Information Centre, Kolkata, West Bengal. Solo Exhibitions : Birla academy All India Young faces, Kolkata Group Exhibitions : 2010 : Pink Ginger Art Gallery at the Jehangir Art Gallery Awards / Honours : 1993 : Award for best water...

Abstract Painting, Acrylic on Canvas by Contemporary Artist "In Stock"
By Amit Kalla
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Amit Kalla - Untitled - 60 inches (Dia) (unframed size) Acrylic on canvas ** Free Shipment ...... will be delivered in rolled form. Style : Kalla’s work can be represented by his commitment to experimenting with social engagement through the arts. It is here his strength lies. Through his deep connection to a cultural expression of a universal spirituality and passionate sense of humanity Kalla, continuously draws people from all communities into acts of creativity in the belief that through creativity people are empowered and communities move incrementally closer to truth. His poetry and paintings are spiritually intuited. While his poems create a secretive world of words, where silence speaks his paintings are calligraphic and draw on the same silent unknowing of invented texts. His paintings represent moments on the continuum; a slice snatched from his deeper hidden journey. The strength of Kalla’s work is that it represents an Indian artist’s quest for an indigenous tenor rather than a superficial inventory of native motifs, there is nothing about his work which relies on a static Indian Identity. About the Artist & his work : Born : 1980 in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Education : 2005 - Masters in Art and Aesthetics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi 2003 - Graduation in Art History, National Museum Institute specializing in ancient Indian art...

Nude Woman, Pastel on Paper by Contemporary Artist "In Stock"
By Sanatan Dinda
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Sanatan Dinda - Nude Woman - 28 x 20 inches (unframed size) Pastel on Paper, 2010 shipment without frame Style : Sanatan Dinda discovers the beautiful amidst the ruins of a dilapidated city; his work becomes lyrical while he puts his signature on the curves and cleavages of sculpted human bodies. Born in the intestines of North Kolkata, the lanes and by lanes of Kumartuli, the squalor and the dirt, the refinement and nuances of a traditional craft of idol-making, the ancient river, the lonely bathing places taught him everything. Poverty all around, Sanatan had enough courage, even in his formative years, to convince himself that eternity could be invented, here and now, in a day. His art, both sculpture and painting, engages in a dialogue between tradition and modernity. Today, his work can be considered to be a prime example of contemporary Bengali visual culture. For last few years, Sanatan has been trying to stress upon traditional clay-sculpting – primarily the local popular sculpture...

Untitled, Pastel & Charcoal on Paper by Indian, Padma Bhushan Artist "In Stock"
By K.G. Subramanyan
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
K.G. Subramanyan - Untitled - 22 x 14 inches (unframed size) Pastel & Charcoal on Paper Inclusive of shipment without frame. Style : K G Subramanyan was one of the leading artists who was part of India’s post-Independence search for identity through art. A writer, scholar, teacher and art historian, K G Subramanyan was prolific in his art, spanning the spectrum of mediums from painting to pottery, weaving, and glass painting. He believed in the value of Indian traditions and incorporated folklore, myth and local techniques and stories into his work. Critic Geeta Kapur has stated that Subramanyan was deeply influenced by popular, modern, classical and indigenous traditions. No matter what the medium, be it handmade paper or acrylic sheet, his artistic practice has integrated fluid traditions so as to create a new lingua franca. The strokes that shape the faces and the little blobs, the vertical and horizontal drama all become like a choreographed symbolism that has a sense of play in line and length. Nothing is in excess, nothing is obnoxious but each stroke forms the finesse of versatile ventures. About the Artist and his work : K.G. Subramanyan (1924-2016) was born in Kerala. Education : He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the Presidency College in Chennai. In 1948, he graduated from Kala Bhavan in Santiniketan, where he studied under the tutelage of Benode Behari Mukherjee...

Untitled, Intaglio, Etching on Paper, Modern Indian Artist "In Stock"
By Laxma Goud
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
K. Laxma Goud - Untitled, Intaglio - 11 x 9 inches (unframed size) Etching on paper, 2014 Style : Goud displays versatility over a range of mediums, from printmaking, drawing, watercolour, gouache and pastels to glass painting and sculpture in bronze and terracotta. Over the many years of his artistic career, he is known to have moved from one medium to another with élan. Fellow artist T. Vaikuntam, in one of his interviews, reminisces that it was Laxma Goud who introduced him to the art of sketching and made him aware of the possibilities of this medium. When one looks at Goud’s work, rustic, raw, and potent might be the first words that come to mind. His portraits of men and women represent the dynamic Indian ethos rather than particular individual identities. A recurrent theme with the artist is that of the erotic, treated as an active and powerful aspect of male and female sexuality and existence. Goud’s work is dramatic; his protagonists are raw and vivacious in their appeal, imbibed with energy that reverberates through his strokes and textures. Most of Goud’s art is centered on the rural, recreating landscapes from his childhood as if they were frozen in time. In the artist’s later work, his figures turn softer, more introspective than brash in their outlook. About the Artist and his work : Born : 1940 in Nizampur, Andhra Pradesh...

Untitled, Mixed Media on Paper by Modern Indian Artist "In Stock"
By Manu Parekh
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Manu Parekh - Untitled - 12 x 9 inches ( unframed size) mixed Media on Paper Inclusive of shipment in roll form. A lovely Mixed Media work in black, white and red color by Modern Indian Artist Manu Parekh who was very strongly influenced by old masters of Indian art, Ram Kinkar Baij and Rabindranath Tagore. He was the recipient of honors and awards like The Padma Shree from the Government of India. Style : Parekh’s early work explored the relationships between man and nature, as according to him, this was an energetic link that had to be celebrated. The artist also points out that, since then, contradictions have formed the basis of his artistic practice, no matter the subject or genre of his works. Polemics have always intrigued Manu Parekh – the energy of the organic form and the inherent sexuality within these forms are intangible elements in his works. His paintings provoke viewers to take notice of the world around them through the emotion, pain and anguish expressed in the subjects of his paintings. His colors and forms exude a volatile energy that can barely be contained within the confines of his canvas, and become an extension of the artist's personality. Vivid colours and prominent lines are an integral part of Parekh’s work and each exudes the energy that he attempts to capture. Parekh admits to being very strongly influenced by his surroundings. His stay in the city of Calcutta, for instance, drew him towards Santiniketan and the old masters of Indian art, Ram Kinkar Baij and Rabindranath Tagore. His appreciation of their work, more at a perceptual level than stylistic one, urged him to delve deeper into the thoughts that inform his own oeuvre. Banaras as a city came to play an integral role in Parekh’s work after his first visit there following his father’s death. This holy city of hope, of faith, of tourists offered him a vast number of contradictions in one location. Parekh also highlights his relationship with his wife Madhvi, who is a self taught artist, and his admiration for Picasso as key influences on his works. About the Artist and his work : Born : 1939 in Gujarat. Education : 1962 - Diploma in Drawing and Painting from the Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai. Solo Shows and Exhibitions : 2007 - ‘Banaras – Eternity Watches...

The Yellow Paradox of Love, Acrylic on Canson Board by Indian Artist "In Stock"
By Pradiptaa Chakraborty
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Pradiptaa Chakraborty - The Yellow Paradox of Love Acrylic on Canson Board, 5 x 6 inches, 2016 Will be shipped in a roll form. The current bunch of paintings mirrors this human Chinese Chequer , which moves about life as an unguided engine ramming into edifices indiscriminately. The paintings also depict the human scrambling for sensuality and gold – digging. The use of various colours, dark and light, in Pradiptta’s work symbolize the inner somberness and fakery. The interplay of mythical and supernatural machinery has been a significant form of artistic expression in the post – modern art arena and thus is interpreted as lending authenticity to the disarray and phantasmagoria in which man landed into. Style : Colours and semi realistic approach reflect the various images of life. Life is itself a kaleidoscope of fleeting images capturing the joys and disappointments of life. Life is a Juggler’s game whereby games are played out to veil the hidden instincts of human life. The conjurer on the road juggler his paraphernalia to entertain the spectators. Such a showmanship has become the grain of human existence. But now days it has turn to different parabola, all perspective are changing like some tsunami wave pass through of our modern civilization. Present impact of canvas is great drama going on. It is a arrested split second of mythical demonstration in modern apparel in post modern globe. Tries to decipher the mythological structures and traditions of Indian art, Characters from Indian mythico-religious tradition, Traditional commentary and background pigment give the proper optimistic pulsation which is very essential for painting’s vivacity. I want to establish extraordinary encounters, represented with the utmost precision which take place on the canvas and try to procure a wonderful hallucinatory quality in which the real and the imagined merge into one. About the Artist & his work : Born : 1979. Education : 2003 : BACHELOR OF FINE ARTS (B.F.A) in Graphics from Kala Bhavana, Vishva Bharati University, Shantiniketan, West Bengal. Five years Diploma in Painting From Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata West Bengal. Group Shows : 2013 : Group Show in Chandigarh Art...

Swimming Pool Fun, Acrylic on Canvas, Red, Blue, by Indian Artist "In Stock"
By Farhad Hussain
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Farhad Hussain - Swimming Pool Fun - 15 x 15 inches (unframed size) Acrylic on Canvas, 2020 Inclusive of shipment in roll form. Style: Farhad Hussain's colourful work that includes drawings and watercolours besides paintings on canvas, features day to day visual experiences of middle-class urban India. He endows his narrative with iconography and personality through his figuration, their posturing, dress and the surrounding imagery. The drama of subtle complexities of human relationships and social environment are grounded with a sense of satire mixed with pathos. Farhad’s colours help enhance the brightness and aura of his paintings while he also partakes elements from traditions such as the formulaic textile patterns of Indian miniatures. His compositions are often set in a familiar drawing room or a social space, playing out with humour and sarcasm, the narrative psychologies of human life and encounters at various levels. This young artist who has also experimented with sculpture has already carved a niche and an instantly recognizable individualistic style befitting his aesthetics and concerns. Farhad has chosen to use tempera on cloth for his works, the media allowing him to achieve the desired vibrancy of colours. A slow build-up of images and spontaneous flow of colour while balancing colour and composition simultaneously follow structured formatting. This meticulous planning in the composition and layout is the beginning of a process from where onwards it is very spontaneous and intuitive. Another technique used throughout Farhad’s work is the method of applying the colour: dot-by-dot till the entire area is completely covered. Various elements from miniature paintings, Kalighat paintings, Japanese prints and images from mass media are scrutinized, transformed and transferred on to the surface through the artists own style of expression. About the Artist and his works : Born: 1975 in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand.
