Banci Firenze Dining Room Tables

Italian

For more than a century, Italian manufacturer Banci Firenze has earned acclaim all over the world for its extensive range of innovative lighting and other furniture designs that draw on geometry, nature and modernist architecture.

Founded in 1899 by Giuseppe Banci, Banci Firenze began as a workshop in Florence that initially specialized in restoring glass, crystal and iron chandeliers. During the 1900s, the business evolved — Banci Firenze became a manufacturer of exquisite light fixtures from hand-blown glass, handmade gold leaf and wrought iron.

Although the company is best known for their meticulously designed chandeliers, wall sconces, flush-mount ceiling lights and table lamps, Banci Firenze’s offerings eventually expanded to include other furnishings during the mid-20th century. Especially popular in the 1950s and 1960s were Banci Firenze’s collection of Hollywood Regency-style pieces, such as glass-topped side tables with gilt flower accents and bases. In the 1970s, dining room tables and cocktail tables characterized by mid-century modernist and Art Deco flourishes were among Banci Firenze’s most popular designs.

In the 1980s, Banci Firenze garnered attention for a unique storage piece designed by the Italian architect and designer Ugo La Pietra. Shaped like a staircase, the so-called “flag cabinet” featured brass drawers, silver-cast ball feet sculpted in brass and a brass flag on a pyramid-shaped top. The cabinet was presented at the Abitare il Tempo exhibition in Verona.

Today, Banci Firenze continues the tradition of designing widely coveted, high-quality lighting and furniture crafted with time-honored Italian techniques.

'Butterflies' Dining Table by Piero Fornasetti, circa 1970s Italy, Signed
By Piero Fornasetti
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This pièce de résistance collectors item is the 'Farfalle' (translated to 'Butterflies') dining table by Piero Fornasetti, circa 1970s, signed underneath with its original studio label. Table height is a perfect 29.25" for dining but also ideal as a cafe, gaming or center table. Such incredible artistry, this round Fornasetti dining table is made with lithographic transfer and lacquered wood that has a white background with colorful butterfly motif and is affixed via screws to a white tulip styled base. One of my favorite aspects of this table is how some of the butterflies cascade down into the edge of the table giving a 3-dimensional effect. The top has been masterfully re-lacquered in a French Polish and looks so incredible - it looks like a sheet of water is floating above the butterflies because it is so clear, vibrant, glossy and smooth while protecting the artwork underneath for decades to come. The 'Farfalle' aka 'Butterflies' motif is documented in the book "Fornasetti, The Complete Universe". This rare piece is sought after by interior designers and collectors alike. Perfect piece to add a little splash of whimsy and intrigue into your interior decor. Contact us for more details on our collection of Fornasetti lamps, tables, bar carts, mirrors, umbrella stands and more. Photographed with the table are Robert Venturi post-modern 'Queen Anne' chairs for Knoll International and Hans Hopfer for Roche Bobois Mah Jong's in Missoni fabrics along with a Missoni Home rug...

Dining table by Alessandro Albrizzi, Italy 1970s
By Alessandro Albrizzi
Located in Athens, Attiki
Lucite, brass and glass dining table by Alessandro Albrizzi, Italy 1970s. Alessandro Albrizzi opened up his first of many shops all over the world in 1968 at One Sloan Square in London. When the words "Jet Set" meant following the sun in Pucci prints to a bossa nova beat. Albrizzi was there. With panache and sophistication he translated the spirit of swinging London into a line of furniture and objects that were just right for the times. Fortunately, his extensive knowledge and love of classical furniture allowed him to sensitively design a line that has transcended that giddy period and is now classic modern design. Albrizzi furniture and objects compliment a wide variety of styles from Baroque to Bauhaus. "Albrizzi is a crisp foil to good antiques," says Peter Vaughn, Managing Director of Albrizzi Design...
