A fine and impressive antique Edward VIII English sterling silver five-piece tea and coffee service including matching tea caddy; an addition to our silver teaware collection This fine antique Edward VIII sterling silver five piece tea and coffee service / set consists of a coffee pot, teapot, cream jug / creamer, sugar bowl and tea caddy. The pieces of this tea and coffee service have a plain oval rounded form. The lower portion each piece is embellished with an embossed fluted design. The flared upper rim of the coffee pot, cream jug, sugar bowl and tea caddy are ornamented with an impressive gadroon border accented with a shell and scroll design to each corner. The shoulders to the teapot and coffee pot are encircled with further gadroon decorated borders; matching the design to the rim. The coffee jug and teapot are fitted with flush hinged domed hallmarked covers, retaining the original fluted finials. The teapot and coffee pot are fitted with impressive angular silver handles with a leaf decorated lower socket. The flush hinges and silver handles to the teapot and coffee pot indicate the Fine quality of this service. The cream jug / creamer and sugar bowl are fitted with C-scroll sterling silver handles with bifurcating scrolling lower terminals and applied leaf designs to the upper portions. The teapot and coffee pot are fitted with swan necked spouts with fluted decoration to the underside of the lower portion. This tea service benefits from a Fine and impressive tea caddy which retains the original push fit hallmarked cover and fluted finial.
