Carlo Taliabue Figurative Drawings and Watercolors
Carlo Tagliabue was born in Cremona, Italy, on March 26, 1894. He studied on a scholarship at the Royal Academy of Art in Milan. He immigrated to California in 1924 and lived in the Lincoln-Sacramento area until the late 1930s. At that time, he settled in San Francisco, where he produced statuary on Treasure Island for the Golden Gate International Exposition. During the 1940s, his work won awards in the Society for Sanity in Art at the California Palace of the Legion of Honor. Primarily a sculptor, he also painted landscapes, still lifes and a few portraits. Tagliabue was a member of the Society for Sanity in Art, Burlingame Art Society and Diablo AA (pres.).
