"Christian & Nathan Fletcher", Islamorada, Florida, 1995
By Lynda Churilla
Located in Hudson, NY

Please allow two weeks for production. Shipping time depends on method of shipping. Price is subject to availability. The Robin Rice Gallery reserves the right to adjust this price depending on the current edition of the photograph. In her new exhibition Churilla draws from her years spent as a swimmer, lifeguard, and athlete to capture the forgotten freedom and exuberance of days of youth spent on the water. Viva la Vida is a mix of timeless portraits and candid photographs "I’ve always been drawn to the water- now my art, my sense of athleticism, freedom and oasis have merged in a way", says Churilla. Her nod to iconic photographers from the past, such as Edward Weston, and Herbert List, is apparent in her portrait work. In another Christian & Nathan Fletcher is in the midst of a surf crusade off the coast of Islamorada, Florida. Christian pioneered a new revolution in surfing style with his aerial techniques. The artist’s genuine connection to her subjects allows the viewer to forget the presence of a camera and to be drawn into the personal narrative. The invitational image Longboard Afternoon, taken at Ditch Plains, Montauk, focuses on the portrayal of the atmosphere rather than the individual subjects. With a 70’s feel the viewer is intrigued by the layers of life, activity and parallel moments shared by silhouettes of surfers carrying longboards at hazy days end. One such image, Gustavo, depicts a male figure seated poolside with head bowed. The pose and the wet sheen to his hair and skin give the subject a classic, sculptural look. All the photographs exhibited in are in various sizes are printed on heavy weight cotton paper with the traditional glossy baryta surface in rich tones of black and white. Her artist mother, Barbara Churilla, involved her in creating art, sculpture, painting and photography from an early age. She was raised in Princeton, New Jersey. She graduated from School of Visual Arts in NYC with a BFA in Photography. Lynda began her photo assisting career with legendary photographer Bruce Weber. Over a period of almost a decade she traveled the world with Weber learning not only knowledge of photography, but also life. Eventually becoming his trusted first assistant before embarking on her own photography adventure. Churilla’s work has been celebrated in American Photo, where she was heralded as one of the young visionaries of 21st century. She has photographed numerous celebrities, such as Cameron Diaz, Jewel, Olivier Martinez, Coldplay, Pet Shop Boys...

'Sombras Doradas (5)' Large Scale Photo, Desert Silhouette Sunset Yellow Gold
By Sophia Milligan
Located in Penzance, GB
'Sombras Doradas (2)' Limited edition archival photograph. Unframed, hand signed and numbered _________________ Shadows painted on the finca wall: low December sun, golden, luminous, casting soft silhouettes through the aperture of the Eucalyptus leaves. Sophia's poetic photographs are an exploration of the balance in all things: in the sensual interplay of light and shadow; in wild raw energy and serene stillness; in the enduring and the effervescent. They are a contemplation of the awareness that everything in existence is temporary, they speak of the ephemeral nature of all things. Moments, feelings, experiences cherished and appreciated in their impermanence, for that is where the beauty comes from. 'I work with time, and the immeasurable spaces of experience within... tangible traces, evidence left behind, records; process in action, stilled'. 40 x 60 inches Limited edition of 25 Archival Print on Hahnemühle Photo Rag® paper, one of the most beautiful and high quality art papers available. The luxurious matt finish provides a reflection free image that is rich in detail, depth and tone. Hand signed, titled and numbered to the lower right corner on an approximately 1 inch white border. Located in Hudson, NY
Price for UNFRAMED The Robin Rice Gallery proudly announces SUMMERTIME Salon 2018, an annual photography exhibit featuring gallery artists as well as a few newcomers. This year’s opening reception will be held on Wednesday, June 27th from 6 – 8 PM, and the show will be on view until September 23rd, 2018 Rice has brought together the works of 55 gallery artists and nearly a hundred photographs for this salon-style exhibition. From floor to ceiling, the walls of the gallery are a mosaic of various size photographs in sepia, color and black & white, expertly hung to fit together like pieces of a puzzle. “This is my favorite exhibition even though it takes months to curate and a week to install,” says Rice. “I love the moment when a viewer is first drawn to an image. Sometimes in’s indefinable; a moment when the viewer not only shares but reconnects to an experience remembered.” Each year, the Summertime Salon matures and Rice’s annual masterpiece is revealed to showcase an exhibition stronger than the year before. Rice has a close relationship with the works of her photographers, and strategically curates the show to best exemplify the artists’ strengths, remaining cohesively linked by Rice’s aesthetic. This year’s invitational image, Hoop and Ball by Nenad Samuilo Amodaj is from a series of one hundred photographs. Rice chose three photographs from Amodaj’s series to create a triptych on the back wall of her gallery for this exhibition. The invitational image is of a standing semi-nude woman in profile wearing a hoop skirt. Her entire head rests inside of a large white plaster ball that she holds above her. He explained: “I wanted to explore the abstract architectural properties of the hoop skirt, a clothing item with curious geometric form that appears both in nature and in the world of artifice.” Before photographing the model he created numerous figure drawings that helped solidify his vision for the series. black and white, photography, women, woman, portrait, feminist, aviation, aviator, fashion Southampton...
