Danielle Duer Art

Danielle Duer is a visual artist focused on creating narrative pieces of art meant to celebrate love, and to empower and encourage women through her fierce yet feminine style. Her work as an artist began as a child. Her grandmother worked in a marker factory and gave her all of the rejects that the factory was unable to sell. Danielle began using the markers to create safe, imaginary worlds to escape to when real life felt too scary. She filled canvases with colorful, bold patterns to symbolize strength and layered the large shapes with white, dainty details to symbolize compassion. Throughout a very difficult childhood, her art became her way to control life, to have a voice and to share herself safely. As she got older, she wrongly believed that she would never be taken seriously as a real artist using only markers, so she taught herself to paint. She was inspired by the powerful images in fashion magazines - the ones with the soldier-like women facing forward with expressionless faces and giant red lips. As she began to portray her version of strong women onto canvas, she didn’t see herself in this new style until she added her familiar layers of inks, patterns and details. Over the following two decades, the artist found that her work resonated with others. Women especially were buying her art as a symbol of courage and commissioning her to tell their own stories. She was determined that she could make a living as a full-time artist. She received her degree in Commercial Art, padding her fine art career with design and marketing skills. She opened her Studio Gallery to the public and gained a small but mighty group of supporters that encouraged her even until now. She later received an award from the mayor for her contribution to her native Nashville’s Arts and Culture. Today, Danielle’s work can be found on home furnishings, throughout commercial and residential interior design projects, on textiles, products and in homes of special patrons and clients all over the world. Her message of strength and love are evident in every project.

An End in Sight /// Contemporary Figurative Beach Landscape Danielle Orchard Art
By Danielle Orchard
Located in Saint Augustine, FL
Artist: Danielle Orchard (American, 1985-) Title: "An End in Sight" *Signed by Orchard in pencil lower right Year: 2023 Medium: Original Archival Pigment Print on unbranded heavy white wove paper Limited edition: 33/50, (there were also 5 artist's proofs) Printer: Unknown, New York? NY Publisher: Art for Change, New York, NY Sheet size: 20.57" x 24.69" Image size: 18.57" x 22.69" Condition: In mint condition Notes: Provenance: acquired directly from the publisher Art For Change, New York, NY. Numbered by Orchard in pencil lower left. The image featured on this print is Orchard's 2022, 84" x 103", oil painting on linen "An End in Sight". This painting was exhibited at her first New York solo exhibition "You Are a Serpent Who’ll Return to the Ocean" at Perrotin Gallery, New York, NY from April 26 - June 10, 2023. Comes with its original Certificate of Authenticity issued directly from the publisher Art for Change, New York, NY which is also signed and numbered by the artist Orchard herself in ink. Depicting two primary characters enjoying an outdoor picnic on a grassy field situated in front of a beach, An End In Sight draws on Orchard’s memories from a summer spent in Bordeaux, which coincided with the large-scale wildfires that swept across France in 2022. In her painting, one figure pours into a cup surrounded by various food items strewn across a white blanket, while the other peers presumably towards a distant character walking across the sand as well as the sea that lies beyond. Orchard’s work is distinguished by a warm orange haze, which lends a surrealistic, otherworldly feeling to an otherwise ordinary summer scene. As the artist recalls, “To me, this painting exudes a sense of heat and stillness that I did not want to lose. In lieu of any dramatic changes to the image, I chose to incorporate small, subtle still life elements, like additional cone flowers or spilled Solo cups of wine. My aim was to explore potential new narratives and spatial arrangements, with as few tweaks as possible.” - Danielle Orchard Biography: Danielle Orchard (born December 2, 1985) is a painter living and working in Brooklyn, New York. Orchard grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Indiana University in 2009 and studied in Florence, Italy. She earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from CUNY Hunter College in 2013. Orchard is represented by Perrotin gallery in New York, NY. Nodding to the great painters of the modern era including Picasso and Matisse, Orchard’s paintings...

'Towards Le Scathe Cove'. Contemporary Landscape, Rural, Sea, Ocean, Beach Blue
By Sophia Milligan
Located in Penzance, GB
'Towards Le Scathe Cove'. Contemporary mixed media landscape painting, Cornwall Original Artwork, Unframed _________________ January morning, heavy swell and a strong southwester, rain imminent, sheltering beneath lichen furred granite outcrops. A plein air painting from the series 'Holan ha Dor' (Meaning 'Salt and Earth in Cornish). West Cornwall is a harshly beautiful peninsula, jutting out into the wild tireless ocean, shaped and moulded by powerful salt laden Atlantic winds, and criss-crossed by ancient, tangled hedgerows. Drawn to the immediacy of moments, underpinned by enduring narratives, Sophia's fluid expressive paintings explores the flux and balance in the nature of all things: The freedom of the air and solidity of the soil; Of anchored stone and rhythmic water; Of human narratives written in the wild landscapes; In the sensual interplay of light and shadow. They capture an essence of the equilibrium between wild raw energy and serene stillness; chaos and harmony; and the enduring and the effervescent. Mixed media on watercolour paper Signed and inscribed Unframed 23 x 30cm / 9 x 12 inches __________________________ About The Artist Sophia Milligan is a contemporary multidisciplinary artist, exploring discourses on permanence & evanescence; the eternal, cyclical absolutes of birth & death; motherhood & childhood; and ancient immutable connections. With resonating ripples of intuition and instinct Sophia illuminates the presence of the ordinary, creating moments of sublime present. 'Born among the wild cliffs and tempestuous seas of west Cornwall, I grew with the intimate details in the twisting lanes and the intense changing light throughout the turbulent seasons. I formed a primordial connection with a deep instinctual sense of being part of the natural narrative, and wherever in the world I may be, this connectivity underpins my practice. Like the wind sculpted hawthorns and sensual coves of weather worn granite, I have been shaped by the powerful energy entwined in this ancient raw environment.’ ‘We are the stories of the journeys that came before. I weave into my work the tales of transitory circumstance; of struggle and survival; of forms and textures holding records of evolutionary millennia. I paint, I draw: with marks, mixtures, photography, words; the raw earth; the restless oceans; the whispered breeze. I work with time, and the immeasurable spaces of experience within, giving subtleties of existence a pause for contemplation. There is beauty in such poignant breaths. All moments are significant, every pebble of now forms the vast mountain of yesterday, and the great realm of tomorrow's possibilities'. Sophia has a 1st class honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in Visual Arts and World History, and a Masters Degree in Contemporary Visual Arts. Her work is held in prestigious international private collections, and exhibitions of her interactive, immersive installation, photography and mixed media works include 'Tabula Rasa', London; 'Superlative', Plymouth; 'Transition', Newlyn; The Eden Project, Cornwall; The European Parliament, Brussels; Kew Gardens, London; and 'The Cameraless Film Festival', Chicago...
