Francis Pavy's works vibrate with life, color, and musical rhythm. The abstract dimension in his works are always profoundly grounded in southern motifs and culture. Pavy touches on many subjects including, mysticism, love, loss and separation, humor, betrayal, friendship, and loyalty as well as many other themes. Pavy’s work has been well received with one-man exhibitions in New York, Los Angeles, Houston, Aspen, New Orleans, France, and Switzerland. Pavy has participated in many notable groups shows such as Outward Bound: American Art on the Brink of the Twenty-first Century (traveling from the United States to Indonesia and the Middle East), Elvis And Marilyn: 2 times Immortal (traveling from the United States to Japan), Southern Narrative Painting (Southeast U.S.) and Invites: Peintres Louisiana (Paris, France). Some catalogs include Elvis & Marilyn: 2 times Immortal, (US & Japanese Edition), The South: A Treasury Of Art and Literature, Francis X. Pavy, La Musique Zydeco, The Colors of Rhythm, and Outward Bound, American Art on the brink of the 21st Century. Eric Bookhart of Art Papers writes about Pavy’s work; “Pavy uses patterning and figurative distortions to achieve mind-bending effects. With his deeply luminous tonalities, the end result is like an unhinged formalism with a beautiful palette.”In the New Orleans Art Review,Calvin Harland writes:“He, In my opinion, is already a rare artist to come out of the Cajun world: meaning he is one of the very few artists of a Similar Cajun Heritage to have made in-depth use of his native source material”

Grey & Tan Abstract Expressionist Textural Mid-Century Abstract by Peter Witwer
By Peter Witwer
Located in Soquel, CA
Grey & Tan Abstract Expressionist Textural Mid-Century Abstract by Peter Witwer Heavily textured, expressive composition by Peter Witwer (American, 1928-1968). Over the top of a heavy base layer of plaster, Witwer has added various layers of oil paint, creating a massive amount of depth and texture. Sections of red peek out from underneath various shades of tan, grey, and black. Spots of blue and purple are used sparingly, hidden in the composition. Presented in a wood frame. Canvas size: 20"H x 40"W Frame size: 26.63"H x 46.63"W Unsigned, but was acquired with a collection of the artist's work. Provenance: Without a will and a family that had little interest in his art, nearly all of his possessions and close to 100 paintings were turned over to SF’s Conservators Office. His friend, Albert Richard Lasker, purchased all of Peter’s possessions (including the art) and has taken care of them until this day, always sensing there was something remarkable about the collection. Wanting Peter’s work to finally be seen, Richard came to Lost Art Salon with Peter’s story after reading about the new gallery in a July, 2005 issue of the SF Chronicle. Born George Peter...
