This 19th century round Biedermeir pedestal table features fantastic artistry and craftsmanship. The top is inlaid with exotic wood, the base is inlaid with vertical stripes, and the foot features a horizontal inlay of the same design as the top band. The table top is centered with a classic sunburst inlay of a lighter wood. The edge of the table top is reeded, and inlaid with fleurettes of lighter wood. Finally the piece rests on bun feet at the bottom.
This piece is a collection of a fourth generation, family owned business in New Orleans called The French Antique Shop. The store was first opened by Marie and Marcel Granet in Paris when they married in 1927.
