Ides Kihlen Paintings

Argentinian, b. 1917
des Kihlen (b. 1917, Argentina) emerged onto the Buenos Aires art scene in her early 80s. She studied at the National School of Decorative Arts in Buenos Aires while simultaneously pursuing music. She also trained with artists such as Emilio Pettoruti, Juan Batlle Planas, Pío Collivadino, and André Lhote. While Kihlen’s work is mostly non-figurative, many of her compositions contain references to music such as hovering keyboard-like forms, clefs, and staves. Her color palette is generally reserved; however, her works exude vibrant, playful energy, and seemingly present windows into new dimensions where forms float freely through space. Kihlen has exhibited her artwork in South America, North America, and Europe.

PWW-777 - Eric Mack - Contemporary Abstract Collage Painting Based off the Grid
Located in Signal Mountain, TN
PWW-777 is part of Eric Mack's ongoing body of work utilizing multi-media, complex compositions, and a grid centered around urban design. Using a grid to create the framework of the painting, Mack has utilized Zerox copies adhered by a matte medium to create graphic imagery of electronics from the 90s, small bits of a map of various places in Germany, and vinyl records. Mack paints on top of a torn canvas, and on the edges you can see the frayed, painted canvas mounted to the white backing of the frame. The work is finished with glass that shows minimum reflection as well as a customized 2 inch, white frame. Eric Mack (b.1976, Charleston) creates mathematically based renderings with a distinct post-modern twist. Works are informed with super imposed grids, patterns, and portals. Layered surfaces are created with paint, found objects, natural fibers, and synthetic substrates that explore the systems of our visual world. His most recent show “Charting the Terrain” is on view now at the California African American Museum in Los Angeles was covered by the Los Angeles Times, KCRW, and LALA Magazine. His last solo exhibition was titled "Impossible Architectures" at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2017. Recent group shows include "Abstract Mind" at the Czong Institute of Contemporary Art, South Korea, "Small Works 2017 at Trestle Gallery, Brooklyn, "Checkered History", Outpost Artist Resources, Brooklyn, N.Y. 2015; Collections include High Museum Atlanta, Ing Investments, Hartsfield Jackson International Airport - Atlanta + Atlanta Gas & Light Co. C1120 Unstretched Abstract Light Gree Blue White Quotes Words Dictionary
By Zach Touchon
Located in Beverly Hills, CA
This work is a part of the "Chaos and Control Theory" Series - the artist's signature series. It was created with the pages from an Oxford Dictionary of Quotations. This technique gives a special character to the work - you can play with it by asking questions, pointing to any part of the work, and you will get a meaningful phrase or a word. The work has blue and white colors. Great for the modern interior. The work is unstretched and will be shipped in a roll. -- "Chaos and Control Theory" Series is about depth and space. It’s about information overload, and what information looks like when you take out a meaning. I create lots of layers, using found materials and printed materials. I do an abstract expressionism painting on a surface first before I apply the printed and found materials. And then I begin to organize the surface, ultimately thinking about balance and flow and how the piece is going to contribute to the space it is going to be hanging in. -- Zach Touchon is an American contemporary abstract expressionist artist and muralist based in Los Angeles, CA. Besides that, Touchon is also an actor, a singer, a screenwriter, and a writer. Zach Touchon is an artist in the second generation. By rethinking abstract expressionism ideas, using different media he creates large abstract artwork along with small collages, huge...

Located in Signal Mountain, TN
"PRLS-1000" is part of Eric Mack's urban grid series. Using a grid to create the framework of the painting, Mack creates movement across the piece with dynamic techniques of washy underpainting underneath matted pieces of paper, and thread. His paintings have been described as "intellect on top of emotion." Eric Mack (b.1976, Charleston) creates mathematically based renderings with a distinct post-modern twist.
