Isidor Stanislas Helman Prints and Multiples

Isidor Stanislas Helman was a French engraver and pupil of the Lille Academy of Fine Arts, under the guidance of Louis-Jean Guéret and Louis-Joseph Watteau. He moved to Paris, where he completed his training under Jacques-Philippe Lebas. Helman etched plates whose images were taken from paintings by many artists, including Nicolas Lavreince, Pierre Antoine Baudouin, Jean Duplessis-Bertaux, Jean-Baptiste Le Prince, and Hubert Robert. Helman has made engravings for Les Conquêtes de l'empereur de la Chine and for the Principal journées de la Révolution, by paintings by Charles Monnet.

Dealing with the Journée du 21 Janvier 1793, our plate represents the death of Louis Capet sur Place de la Révolution, designed by Monnet.
