A fine and impressive antique George III English sterling silver helmet shaped creamer made by Peter and Ann Bateman, an addition to our Georgian silver teaware collection. This fine antique George III sterling silver cream jug has a helmet shaped form onto a pedestal with a circular spreading foot and plain square base. The upper portion of the body is ornamented with a broad band of bright cut engraved irregular undulating decoration. The body of the jug is embellished with a pin struck and bright cut engraved decorated shield shaped vacant cartouche suspended from a stylized ribbon design. The rim of the body is encompassed with an applied reed decorated border. These exceptional antique Victorian English cast sterling silver peppers are realistically modelled in the form of infant's heads. The surface of these novelty silver peppers incorporate details reproducing the children's facial features and hair; one child displays a happy expression and the other is bewailing. The face of each pepper surmounts an impressive undulating layered ruff/collar. These unusual sterling silver peppers incorporate an array of pierced 'pepper' holes to the reverse surface of the heads.
