Margaret Fisher Prout Paintings
Margaret Fisher Prout was a painter of landscapes, flowers and figures in an Impressionist style. Born on 31 March 1875 in Chelsea, London, she was the daughter of Mark Fisher, the painter. Prout studied under him, and later at the Slade School in 1894–97. She married John Alexander Prout in 1908. Prout exhibited at the N.E.A.C. from 1906, became a member in 1925; and at the R.A. from 1921, A.R.A. from 1948 and at R.W.S. from 1945. She taught drawing at the Hammersmith School of Arts and Crafts before 1914. Prout had a solo exhibition at the Beaux-Arts Gallery in 1922. She lived at St Leonards-on-Sea, where she died on 9 December 1963. Her works are held by The Tate Gallery.
