1971 MCM Lane Headboard Tower Suite Collection Full/Queen Bed Rosewood & Walnut
By Lane Furniture
Located in Topeka, KS
Marvelous vintage Mid-Century Modern headboard Lane Furniture Tower Suite Collection comprised of walnut and rosewood. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been restored or refinished. Please see photos and zoom in for details as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 10-18-1971.
Sometimes the best thing to do first thing in the morning is go right back to bed! And honestly, with a bed this beautiful, you may never want to get up!!! This is an INCREDIBLE full or queen sized “Tower Suite Collection” headboard by Lane Furniture!! It bears a lovely contrast of a walnut frame and fabulous decorative rosewood inlays across the front and both sides. This is a classic beauty with a Mid-Century Modern style that you are sure to love for years to come. It is going to be gorgeous in your bedroom! All you need is a full or queen-sized mattress and a Hollywood frame OR if you don’t mind the opinion of my mom, who is an EXCEPTIONAL retired interior designer… She would have a hanging mechanism or wall cleat made so that you can attach it to the wall and lift it a little higher, use a platform rather than a Hollywood frame, and toss out the box springs as mattresses today are much taller than they used to be. Annnnnd, Voila! Maximum exposure of the headboard! If that sounds like something you would be interested in, we would be happy to provide a wall cleat upon purchase of the headboard. This is a gorgeous example of high-quality craftsmanship constructed with exquisite woods and attention to detail quintessential of Lane Furniture. You simply can’t go wrong!
Lane was founded in 1912 by Edward Hudson Lane at the age of 21, upon his father’s suggestion after he, John Edward Lane, bought a small packing-box plant in Altavista, Virginia. Edward procured a loan and converted the factory to make cedar chests and named it The Standard Red Cedar Chest Co. Sales were good and the company expanded. But during WWI, with the banning of rail freight deemed non-essential, they began making pine ammunition boxes. This is notable as it led to an assembly line which was revolutionary and became the first moving conveyor assembly system in the furniture industry. After the war, with sales still increasing, Ed Lane decided he could risk giving the company his name and changed it to The Lane Co...

By Maxalto, Afra & Tobia Scarpa
Located in Turin, Turin
Since their first meeting at IUAV in Venice to their move to the Venetian countryside, Tobia Scarpa and Afra Bianchin shared first a degree, then a marriage and a career that marked their lives and those of Italian design at the turn of the 1970s and 1980s-golden years for design made in Italy.
In the village on the border of Valdobbiadene, in a modest studio, the two began the work that opened the collaboration with Flos - it was 1962. Already loyal followers of Aldo Bartolomeo...

1980s Green Canopy Bed and Chest of Drawers Dark Lacquer for Sormani, Italy
By Sormani, Davide Pizzigoni & Manolo De Giorgi, Marco Comolli
Located in Arosio, IT
Canopy bed
An unusual canopy bed, named Fauno, manufactured by Sormani in very dark green (almost black) glossy lacquer, with 4 columns in grey nextel and a metal canopy in light apple green. The bed has multifunctional structures all around: two trays that work as night tables, one front tray that works as further support (for a TV-screen, for instance), and a back shelf of 17cm (6" 11/16) for your favorite books.
All "trays" are adjustable as seen in pictures and can be also adjusted in height.
The bed includes a wooden bed slat (see picture) with a metal frame, and a provisional mattress, while you buy your own favorite. Mattress size should be cm 160x200x20-25 (63 in × 79 in x ca. 9" 27/32).
Size of bed: H 225 x W 175 x D 235 cm (7' 4" 37/64 x 5' 8" 57/64 x 7' 8" 33/64)
Size of trays: cm 47 x 32 (1' 6" 1/2 x 1' 19/32).
Height of bed (without mattress) cm 40 (1' 3" 3/4)
Commode
Chest of drawers in very dark green lacquer (the famous 20-gloss silky mat lacquer of Sormani) with six spacious drawers: two in elegant salmon lacquer, standing out with a colorful touch and four in dark green. Please note the skillful shape of each drawer front: a triangular shape with a recessed, convex upper part. In its simplicity, a real work of craftsmanship for an Industrial manufacturer such as Sormani of Arosio, Italy.
Size of commode: cm H 78 W 160 D 52 (H 2' 6" 45/64 x W 5' 2" 63/64 x D 1' 8" 15/32)
Perfect for the entrance or the bedroom of a sleek city apartment or even for a contemporary mountain hut.
The piece is in very good conditions. Just normal wear and tear in some parts.

- 1stDibs ExpertAugust 20, 2024To tell if an M. C. Escher print is real, examine its details with a magnifying glass. If you see any pixelation, the piece is likely a reproduction. Escher used lithographic techniques to produce his prints, and this method usually involves heavy paper with a noticeable grain and a thicker application of ink. As a result, smooth or glossy paper or fine, light linework typically indicates that a print is a copy. A certified appraiser or knowledgeable art dealer can further assist you with the authentication process. On 1stDibs, shop a collection of M. C. Escher art.
