Gufram Pratone Forever Greener Chaise Lounge by Ceretti, Derossi & Rosso
By Gufram Furniture, Riccardo Rosso, Piero Derossi and Giorgio Ceretti
Located in La Morra, Cuneo
PRATONE® FOREVER is the version which was born to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the timeless icon PRATONE®, a myth which reinvents itself and becomes eternal, approaching the dimension of furnishing more and more. While maintaining its soft polyurethane soul – a material which has always characterized Gufram products – PRATONE® FOREVER changes its “skin”: originally covered in Guflac®, the special paint invented and patented by the company to coat its creations in polyurethane while still maintaining their softness and elasticity, this special edition is covered in an elastic wool bouclé fabric that adheres perfectly to the eccentric forms of this out of the ordinary chair, ensuring excellent resistance to wear and tear.
Please note: this piece is on exhibition only at the 1stdibs Gallery. Purchased pieces will be shipped directly from our production site in Italy. Production lead times are often flexible and stock levels vary.
Materials:
Settee in soft polyurethane upholstered with bouclé wool.

We have 3 colour variations of our Pratone Forever...

GUFRAMINI Pratone by Ceretti, Derossi & Rosso
By Gufram Furniture, Riccardo Rosso, Piero Derossi and Giorgio Ceretti
Located in La Morra, Cuneo
The mini Pratone® plays with the juxtaposition of a "large-small" proportion by reducing to 7/8 the giant Pratone that was designed in 1972 by Ceretti, Derossi, and Rosso, and exhibited that year at the MoMA as part of the Italy: The New Domestic Landscape exhibition. Just like the original version, the base of the "mini" sculpture shows the writing ‘Pratone’ on one of the sides, and 42 soft stems stretching in different directions complete the radical look of this little icon.
As if in a fairy tale, the Gufram icons have become smaller and have now turned into Guframini®! The most radical Italian design...

Vintage Sculptural Silver Necklace by Graziella Laffi
By Graziella Laffi
Located in Atlanta, GA
A bespoken sterling silver necklace with five roundel bell shape of gradual sizes linked by joint chains, designed and made by Graziella Laffi, Lima, Peru, circa 1965. The subtly hammered roundels evoke a sense of history with the form found in pre-Columbian culture, yet the necklace appears beyond ethnic, it exuberates a confident and bold modernism. The necklace with Peruvian Cultural Ministry label to verso.
Graziella Laffi was born in 1923 in Florence, Italy to Gino Laffi, a silversmith and artist. Following her family tradition, Graziella enrolled in master classes after elementary school, focusing on design and painting. She next attended Escuela de Bellas Artes de Puerta Romana for three years, where Gino taught, and then to the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze, where she concentrated in architecture until the start of World War II. In 1947, Graziella, then twenty-four, immigrated with her parents to Peru. Gino later created a silversmith studio and showroom called Fabrica Laffi on Avenue Mexico, where Graziella initially learned her Craft. The Pre-Columbian culture in her adopted country inspired Graziella to travel and collect, which ultimately influence her design in the silver pieces. Graziella learned the metalworking techniques of the ancient Peruvian civilizations and rejected the current technology. She mostly used hammering, rolling and creating joints as the ancients do. As an ambassador of Peruvian culture, her work promoted the indigenous Peruvian art and rekindled the interest in its ancient heritage throughout South America, the United States and Europe. She exhibited her growing collection of Peruvian artifacts...

Vintage "Pictures" Book by Herb Ritts
By Herb Ritts
Located in San Diego, CA
The quintessential distillation of American Pop culture in the eighties, "Pictures" by Herb Ritts, circa 1988. The book is in very good vintage condition and measures 11.25" x 14.5". A must have! #4282
Herb Ritts was an American fashion photographer who concentrated on black-and-white photography and portraits in the style of classical Greek sculpture. Consequently some of his more famous pieces are of male and female nudes in what can be called glamour photography.
Ritts was born in Los Angeles, California to a prosperous family. His parents, Herb and Shirley Ritts, owned a successful furniture business. He received an economics degree from Bard College in upstate New York in 1974 and soon after returned to Los Angeles to work as a sales representative for his family's business. He came out as gay to his parents while in college; they were accepting and supportive.
However, Ritts started taking night classes in photography and decided to dedicate himself to the art in the late 1970s. His first break into the business occurred as a result of taking portraits of his actor friend Richard Gere. These photos gained national exposure on the covers of many magazines.
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s he worked with magazines such as Harper's Bazaar, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair and Vogue on portraits of famous people and artistic photos of models.
Subjects of his black-and-white celebrity portraits included Kofi Annan, Cindy Crawford, Tenzin Gyatso (the Dalai Lama), Madonna, Jack Nicholson and Elizabeth Taylor.
In 1981, Ritts took photos for the album cover of Olivia Newton-John's Physical. He started his long term collaboration with Madonna in 1984, when he shot the ad for her movie Desperately Seeking Susan.
In 1984, he photographed Eagles drummer and vocalist Don Henley for his second solo album Building the Perfect Beast.
In 1986, Ritts shot the cover photo of Madonna's True Blue album. He later ventured into the world of music video at a suggestion of Madonna and filmed her video "Cherish". In 1988, he photographed Steve Winwood for his Roll With It album. In 1989, he photographed Belinda Carlisle...
