Stefan Lokos
American, 1913-1994
Born in Hungary, Stefan Lokos studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Art in Budapest. He escaped from a POW camp in Odessa, Russia, in 1945 and later came to the USA in 1954. Lokos was a lecturer at Universities and opened an international art school for art teachers in Woodstock, New York. He painted in an abstract style, which later included cubist elements, inspired by the Rocky Mountains and Sierras.
