Sven Dalsgaard Still-life Sculptures
Danish, 1914-1999
Sven Dalsgaard was self-taught as a painter. His earliest paintings are Naturalistic but around 1934, he was inspired by Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee to paint more abstract works. He debuted at the Kunstnernes Efteraårsudstilling in 1943. Inspired by Marcel Duchamp, he embarked on Surrealism in the 1940s but moved into a simpler, more stylized approach in the 1950s, producing tall thin sculptures, which he soon included in his paintings, for example, Kristus fra Randers. (Christ from Randers, 1954).

Chiseled stone sculpture from my "Insider Series" titled "Disengaged # One"
By Mark Beltchenko Studio
Located in Grosse Pointe Park, MI
Title: "Insiders Series (Disengaged #1.): A Tactile Journey Through Form and Narrative"
"(Disengaged #1.)" from the "Insiders Series" emerges as a singular masterpiece—a one-of-a-kind sculpture meticulously crafted from hand-carved limestone and an assortment of metals thoughtfully chosen for their color and malleability. This work, like its counterparts in the series, transcends the boundaries of visual exploration, inviting the beholder to engage in a tactile experience that unravels a narrative both familiar and enigmatic.

As hands traverse the surface of the stone, a world unfolds, both impenetrable and inviting, offering a tactile journey that complements and completes the visual narrative. Each touch becomes a discovery of the familiar and the unknown, an invitation to unravel the layers of meaning embedded in the carved form.
The core of this freestanding sculpture is hand-carved Indiana limestone...
