I - con - ic ; timeless, worthy of veneration ; see 'hal', modern pedestal table
By William Earle
Located in Columbia, SC
The Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum refers to William as the American Minimalist. Perhaps no other design of his exemplifies Minimalism and Modernism more than his iconic 'hal' pedestal, designed in 2000 and singularly responsible for ushering the faceted craze into contemporary American and European design. With a large glass round, this table is perfect to anchor a beautiful dining room. Choose from the Teak shown, or one of William's other suggested finishes. If none are quite perfect, William is delighted to help you choose from more than a hundred others. The glass top is 63" round and 1/2" thick, and is included in this listing. About William Earle Producer Joel Silver ( Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, The Matrix ) purchased William's first functional design - a case comprised of four separate hexagonal volumes, and immediately shipped it to his South Carolina home, the Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece 'Auldbrass', for installation. William's 'hal' , designed in 2000, singularly ignited the faceted craze in contemporary design, and continues to be one of the most popular tables in history. William was selected to represent Surface magazine at the Salone del Mobile Milano 2004. In 2006, Ellen Lupton, the curator of the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, when asked by Metropolis magazine to compare American and European designers, said that William Earle was more like a European and stood out as the American Minimalist. In 2008 his 'Nude Descending...

Own a Piece of Design History, William Earle Re-Issues His Iconic 'Hal' Tables
By William Earle
Located in Columbia, SC
William Earle’s ‘Hal’ table, created in 2000, ushered the faceted craze into furniture and lighting and has proven to be one of the most successful designs of all time. Since then, William has become probably the most prolific, and copied, contemporary American furniture designer. His work adorns the Penn, Yale and Harvard campus, the lobbies of Trump Tower and the Ritz-Carlton, is used for display on the floors of Niemann Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and Bloomingdales, and in advertisements for Hugo Boss and Ralph Lauren. In 2007 the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art commissioned his ‘Nude’ inter-active table to sell from their museum store. He has been published in every architecture, design and décor magazine and journal in America, and in a conversation about European versus American design in Metropolis Magazine, Ellen Lupton, the curator of the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, referred to William as the American Minimalist. Unlike some others of like prominence, and still more who only aspire to it, William has never sold his brand to the corporate furniture world of overseas factories and design school grad ‘ghost’ designers. He has always been a sculptor before a brand, and still loves spending the day in the studio, where he works alone and everything is made to order. He genuinely feels honored whether one of his designs is chosen to be part of a designers project or an addition to someone’s home, and, because of such frequent requests, William signs...
