About the artist:
Anatole Krasnyansky (born in 1930; Kiev, Ukraine) is a Ukrainian-American artist who has gained prominence by pioneering a new watercolor technique. Krasnyansky added paper texture as a component of his watercolors. With this new process, Krasnyansky added texture and depth to the watercolor medium and expanded its expressive possibilities to a level usually associated with oil painting.
Biography
He was born in Kiev, growing up and living during the times when Ukraine was a part of the U.S.S.R. Krasnyansky received master's degrees in fine art and architecture. He found that the freedom of expression that he needed in his artwork could not be found within the strictures of the Soviet Union and moved to the United States in 1975.
In the U.S., Krasnyansky found valuable use for his knowledge of architecture, design and his imagination. and found success in multiple artistic pursuits. Almost surreal, Krasnyansky’s figures are recognizable form while incorporating elements of his Eastern heritage, the cubist ideas of Picasso and Braque, and as well as American culture.
Accomplishments

AURORA'S GARLAND is an imaginary architectural landscape that combines the real and the surreal. Created in 1995 by the Iowa born artist Jim Buckels (b.1948) known for his dream-like images, rendered in a meticulous, modern airbrush technique. This limited edition screenprint was printed using hand silk screen printing techniques on heavyweight archival printmaking paper, very fine details superb quality craftsmanship. AURORA'S GARLAND presents the viewer with a dreamlike metaphysical landscape luxuriant with shades of cool blues, dark greens, grays, beige, pink lavender, magenta pink, yellow, off white and black. A peaceful moonlit garden scene accented by two winged cherub statues in the foreground holding onto a glowing lamp post. An elegant and fanciful, rose tinted French maison rendered in a Chiâteauesque architectural style, sets the scene as it stands glowing with light beside a mirror-still pool of water, surrounded by a textural stone wall, precisely trimmed hedges, lush leafy trees, and flowering shrubbery. This is a rare and exceptional work by Shoulberg. His serigraphs can be found in the permanent collections of some of the finest museums, and institutions in the country.
Harry Shoulberg was born in Philadelphia, 25 October 1903 of Russian/Jewish heritage. His father, Max Shoulberg, was the fourth of twenty children and the first to be born in America. His mother was Tessie Derfler, a New Yorker of German descent. Harry grew-up in New York, married Sylvia Hendler in 1931, and had one child, Ted.
Shoulberg attended City College of New York where he studied biochemical engineering for three years before switching to fine arts in his last year. He continued his art education at the John Reed School, 1934-1935, the American Artist School, 1935-1937, and then privately at the studios of artists Sol Wilson (1894-1974) and Carl Holty (1900-1973). In 1938, he worked for the WPA and produced two oil paintings for the organization.
He maintained studios in New York City and Bridgehampton on Long Island until 1983. He was a late bloomer...
