These are a very good Large pair of Chinese foo or lion dogs on plinth's, sometimes called temple lions made of metal and hand gilded with fine detail, all in the Ming style but dating to the early 20th century, Circa 1920s period. These are an unusually large pair of Chinese Export Foo Dogs, nearly 12 inches tall, with an unpacked weight of over 2Kg each. These pair of Foo Dogs are modelled in the Ming style, sat on rectangular plinths with a brocade ball under one raised foot. These pieces are very well detailed, then hand gilded. The plinth's have detailed motifs moulded into the central panels with border detail along their upper and lower edges, with black felt to their bases. These are a very good PAIR of antique Chinese foo or lion dog sculptures, sometimes called temple lions, made of a brass-bronze metal alloy, with excellent detail, dating to the early 19th century, Qing period or possibly earlier back to the 18th century. They are a male and female pair, the male with the slightly larger head. These pieces are very well cast with good detail and wear, showing a very good depth of colour. These are a very good pair of antique Ming style Chinese foo or lion dog sculptures, sometimes called temple lions, made of bronze, with good detail, which we date to the late Qing or early Republic period of the 20th Century, Circa 1920. These pieces are well cast with very good detail, showing wear and a good natural patination to the high points as expected from use and polishing over a long period, the lustrous copper bronze metal below.
