This beautiful French late 19th century chest of drawers in black ebonized wood and cherrywood reproduces with perfect proportions in scale a miniature cabinet with three drawers and an upper flap door that opens to reveal a white marble top and an oval mirror inside, nice hand carved band on top with geometrical pattern and molded base. The black lacquered wood creates a wonderful contrast with the beautiful honey-colored wood grain. Despite its convenient size, extremely detailed, this chest of drawers is equipped with a white Carrara marble top and a small mirror that make it even more special and useful. The model of a piece of furniture was originally created by cabinet makers to show their skills to the customer and to present the sample of the furniture which would then have been produced on a larger scale. These commode miniatures, along with other specimens, were displayed in the craftsman's workshop to serve as examples to aid the potential client in making a selection. This wonderful French 18th century demilune (half moon) shaped sideboard or chest of drawers dating back to Louis XVI period (1774 -1791) -stamped by the French cabinet maker Tondeur- features great scale, perfect proportions and stunning high craftsmanship marquetry inlays. Two spacious sans travers drawers on front with antique original cast bronze hand crafted handles and a door on each side revealing a compartment with a shelf, all rests on four square tapered legs with a luxuriously veined Italian marble top featuring a beautiful grain and gorgeous soft colors including different shades of red, yellow, ocher, white and brown. This one of a kind magnificently inlaid commode featuring mother of pearl and bone inserts to enrich the central design and the allegories of music on the sides wich are a marquetry and cabinetmaking works of art themselves. The front houses two drawers with veneered sans travers marquetry with a central medallion masterfully inlaid depicting an unusual and whimsical scene: a fairy-tale rural countryside landscape with an old building that appears to be a church in the background, surrounded by a picturesque avenue of cypress and a monkey in the foreground picking up cocoa fruits from a tree - symbols of good luck and fortune- with a dog at its side. The round panel is finished with oval mother-of-pearl inserts, a ribbon inlaid on top all surrounded by a wreath of flowers and leaves . The inlays on the side doors are equally beautiful, so detailed as to seem painted. On each door, the marquetry is inspired by the theme of music, allegories with both wind and string instruments, sheet music and a hat all gathered in a magical composition enriched by floral inspired festoons, ribbons and tassels. The casework inside shows the mastery of the cabinetmaker and attention to detail, the doors are made of precious citronnier wood framed by an ebony band. This commode of narrow proportion is a wonderful example of 18th century French craftsmanship in storage cabinet making, entirely inlaid, stamped it is an exclusive one-of-a-kind Louis XVI period work of art certainly created for a very demanding and important client now ready to be the antique conversation...

This charming 17th Century massive scale rectangular refectory table, dating back to Baroque period, is a magnificent example of Tuscan rustic craftsmanship. The top consists of four large solid warm brow walnut planks capped on either end with matching pieces of walnut wood slabs. The 3 meters long and 1 meter wide tabletop rests on a trestle base composed of six massive turned baluster legs joined by a simple molded stretcher running the distance on either side making the seat even more comfortable. The simple and clean line of the top is wonderfully harmonized by the roundness of the legs, all with exceptional wood grain and texture and rich, warm great original patina throughout. In typical Tuscan fashion, this farm table is long and narrow, featuring a very rustic but clever construction: two wooden pegs and thick joints on each side allow the top to easily separate from the base for easy transportation. This is "The Table" solid and sturdy a wonderful and warm piece, rich in history and rare. The four plank cleated detachable top is of superb color and figuring. This versatile antique refectory table can be used as a hall, dining or serving table. It has character and is simply stunning from every angle making a fabulous statement in any room both in your countryside home or in the most elegant setting. The present work of art titled "Urban Abstraction (ripped off posters)" is part of a series of paintings that the artist composed in the 1980s and 1990s inspired by the observation of the urban reality of those years. The artist take the cue from his walks in Florence, both in the center and in the suburbs, and by the observation of billboards and posters scattered throughout the city. The mass of information, colors, messages and words were carried on the canvas with acrylic colors, ideally reconstructing the tears and overlaps of all the information and advertising contained on these huge sheets of paper that invade our cities. The geometric lines are overlaid with jagged lines, overlaps and color dripping and also the choice in the color palette, with different shades of white, gray, rose, orange red and blue helps in rendering the result of the tears and ripped paper. The result is a beautiful multicolored modern abstract canvas, both aesthetically and ethically, with many rich layers of color, texture and expression in which the artist leaves his own message. This magnificent pair of French late 18th Century- early 19th Century armchairs could be attributable to Jacob-Desmalter, an outstanding chairmaker and cabinetmaker who worked in the Louis XVI style and Directoire styles of the earlier phase of Neoclassicism. These sturdy armchairs are made of solid mahogany and green silk upholster, they feature an extremely comfortable high and slightly arched back and quite large and extremely firm seats. The hand-made carvings and inlays are masterfully executed. The over graceful scrolled arms and the top rail sculpted in shallow relief with acanthus leaves, lotus leaves and rosette, all typical neoclassical patterns beloved during the Directory- Restauration and Empire period and always very chic. This Italian design serveware ceramic set of three pottery items is composed of a jug, a pitcher and a little sweets bowl or tray. The set dating back to 1930s was created by Lenci manufacture, established in Turin in 1919. The matte ivory beige background is enriched with floral patterns throughout both on the body and on handles of these gorgeous vessel group. The flowers' decoration is rendered in a soft palette of colors with different shades of yellow, orange and pink outlined with a black contour line along the flower's decoration edges. The all purpose carafe has a long neck and an awesome Amphora shape, the pot-bellied decanter bottle has a nice molded nozzle while the round shaped tray has a pleasant curly handle. These objects of everyday use have simple clear lines and modernist forms, perfect as a table set for wine or water. The little bowl could be used as a sweet tray, sugar bowl or candleholder. These ceramics are ready to embellish your dining table or to be displayed in a vitrine cabinet or as a centrepiece on a sideboard. In the present work small handcut tiles of pure white Carrara marble are the background of this interesting contemporary mosaic which represents one of the most celebrated landmark in Florence. The facade of the church of Santo Spirito (Holy Spirit), designed and built by Brunelleschi, is created with precious beige-colored Botticino marble tiles and surrounded by a frame of small black glass glazed paste tiles. Carrara and Botticino are among the most famous Tuscan marbles that’s why the local mosaic artist and craftswoman- who creates this superb work of art- decided that the mosaic featuring the most important symbol of Florence should be made of these materials. To make the composition more interesting, two different types of Carrara marble were used: the statuary white marble is matte and the white Carrara marble called "zuccherino" (sugary) is more sparkling. The random alternation of these two marbles give a pleasant vivid and three-dimensional effect to the entire mosaic tile. Each small rectangular and squared tesserae are hand cutted and each one of these mosaic is one of a kind. The mosaic plaque has a wood panel as support and the tile is housed in hand painted giltwood frame. The tile on sale and immediately available now is 15x15 cm and reproduces the church of Santo Spirito (Holy Spirit)- as you can see in the main image- but many other mosaic with the most important symbols and monuments of Florence are available as the Old Bridge, Santa Maria Novella, Florence's Cathedral with the Brunelleschi's dome or the Lily symbol of the city and so on, as showed in the photos.
