The Return of the Chandelier, Interior Scene, Mixed Media, Work on Paper, Framed
By Yasemin Kackar Demirel
Located in Riverdale, NY
Yasemin Kackar Demirel, The Return of the Chandelier, Watercolor, block print, Graphite on Paper, 14x20 framed to 17x23, 2018. It is part of her "Gap" series. Yasemin Kackar Demirel is a Turkish artist. She was born in Istanbul, received her MFA in DeKalb (IL), and currently lives in New York. Her work is a fragmented and reconstructed journey through the places she has lived and traveled, both real and imagined. She has a strong use of color and mediums incorporating acrylic, ink, pen, graphite, pastels, watercolors and spraypaint into her artwork. According to Yasemin, her latest Gaps series: “Movement in architecture and in nature are compelling to me. I view a world within continuous social and political conflicts and struggles, and reflecting upon this movement is freeing to me. This is a controlled freedom. I explore the ways in which emotional and physical balance, safety and stability can be maintained. I base this cyclical quest on replanning and abstracting the existing structure and geometry of sites and vistas. In this watercolor and block print series on paper...

Nebular Vines 9456, botanical, Nature, Vines, Silver, Leaves, Wood Panel,
By Michelle Gagliano
Located in Riverdale, NY
Nebular Vines is a botanical, oil painting on wood panel. It is 12x12. This nature inspired Nebular Vines series works as individual artwork or as a series. Each painting is filled with silver, brown, gray and some gold tones. Michelle Gagliano’s art is a continuous engagement with the notion of beauty and experimentation. Imaginary ‘natural’ forms and textural patinas are melded in an exploration of surface alchemy, presenting the viewer with a breathtaking panorama that both evokes timeless private visions and invokes universal themes and emotions. According to Michelle, "I am experimenting with gold, silver and metallic pigments, suspended on the surface of my panels, then reworking them, erasing, sanding, re-glazing building up and taking down, stretching into, creating a ‘history’. These pigments have a transcendent quality, present in the motifs of so many cultures, including Russian Icons...

Only Elephants Should Wear Ivory, Art, Abstract, Colorful, Dimensional
By Kimber Berry
Located in Riverdale, NY
Only Elephants Should Wear Ivory by Kimber Berry. It is Acrylic and Mixed Media on Canvas, 36x36. This is a layered, dimensional contemporary painting. It is filled with white and vibrant colors including purple, pink, blue, green, and teal. Berry is a California "Flow" artist. Kimber Berry is a Los Angeles artist, who is part of the "Flow Movement," a term coined by Art Critic (and curator) Peter Frank. Her artwork is vibrant and dynamic mixed media combining acrylics, resins and digitally altered photographs of her paint-strokes. As a native of LA, Kimber loves to blur the line between what is real and what is illusion. In this latest series, Plastic Gardens, Kimber addresses the ongoing diminishing natural environments. According to Kimber, "Amongst hundreds of thousands of miles of concrete and steel we feel a distance from nature and are compelled to create green spaces, oasis, parks and gardens of cut grass, pruned trees and waterfalls constructed of painted concrete rocks encircled by highly designed flower beds, essentially nature on our terms. I've constructed this series of paintings inspired by these plastic gardens." Berry has received a lot of positive attention from art critics and curators on the West Coast and has been featured in solo and group shows in New York, LA, Atlanta and London. She has been in exhibits at the Riverside Museum and the Huntington Beach Art Center in California. Berry has been featured in the magazines Art LTD, Hamptons Cottages & Gardens, Ocean Home...

Hannah's Window, Swimmer, Water, Work on Paper, Red Swimsuit, Female Figure
By Carol Bennett
Located in Riverdale, NY
Hannah's Window is a figurative artwork featuring a female swimmer in a red bathing suit moving through the water. It is a mixed media painting on painted wood grained paper. Artwork is 26 x 20. It is framed to 32 x 26 with a white frame. This is part of the latest series by Hawaii artist, Carol Bennett. Carol Bennett spends all of her time surrounded by water, and a great deal within it. Her work is a meditative journey through both the water and through life. She is intrigued by how life continues to flow and change, being both in the moment and timeless. The viewer will experience being in a state “flow” – where the currents of the ocean suspend life and self, and the unexpected floats to the surface. Carol's work has been featured in many solo and group exhibits throughout California, New York, Martha's Vineyard and Hawaii including a 2007 solo show at the First Hawaiian Center at the Contemporary Museum of Art (Honolulu) and a 2018 group show "Making Waves" exhibit at the Honolulu Museum of Art. Her work was seen alongside April Gornik, Agnes Martin, Kiki Smith, and Pat Steir. In 2019, she was also featured in exhibits at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, the Hawaii State Art Museum and a solo exhibit at the Honolulu Museum of Art. She has been featured in Hamptons Cottages & Gardens, Ocean Home Magazine and the New York Times. Carol's artwork has also been featured in Designer Showhouses in Westchester NY and the Hamptons, and is part of public and private collections around the world. Elisa Contemporary Art...

Fish Study, painting, Reverse painting on glass gold leaf, oil, cobalt, water
By Carol Bennett
Located in Riverdale, NY
Fish Study by Hawaii artist Carol Bennett is a reverse painting on glass artwork. It is Oil, Varnish, Gold Leaf and powdered Cobalt. It is 9x12. Carol Bennett's artwork is a meditative journey through both the water and through life. She is one of the few artists to truly capture what it's like to be in and moving and swimming through the water. For Carol, the act of swimming underwater is similar to the process of painting. Her approach results in multi-layered surfaces that are intricate and textured and unexpected. She is constantly experimenting with her pieces: adding, subtracting, sanding. When she is not painting Swimmers, she is capturing the fish surrounding her. She has created over 100 large public and corporate commissions internationally, and is in private collections around the world. Carol Bennett was recently currently featured in two exhibits at the Honolulu Museum of Art. Networking and Water: Carol Bennett featuring female swimmers, as well as marine nets floating or submerged in water. Bennett was also part of the group exhibit Making Waves highlighting the important role of women artists in the museum’s contemporary collection. In this show, the works by international and Hawaii-based artists all have a relationship to water. Featured artists also included: April Gornik, Agnes Martin, Judy Pfaff, Kiki Smith and Pat Steir! Made during one of Patterson's early tours to India it shows the gloriously majestic Palace Museum in Udaipur, Rajasthan, which sits on the highest point overlooking Lake Pichola and the City. Autumn Cotilion - Japanese Style Gyotaku Painting on Marbled Mulberry Paper
By Jeff Conroy
Located in Chicago, IL
In Japan they are known as Nishikigoi, or living jewels. These brilliantly colored varieties of the Amur carp have been selectively bred by family owned fisheries for generations. When I began this series of Gyotaku (Japanese fish printing) I studied the many varieties of Koi, each with their own unique colors and patterns. My particular favorites are the Tanchos which can be identified by the distinct red spot on their heads. To create these pieces I print common carp I catch myself with sumi ink using traditional techniques used by Japanese fisherman dating back the mid 1800's. I then tint the images using watercolor. In each piece I hope to translate a sense of movement to give the viewer a sense of calm one might experience watching the living versions lazily meandering around a serene pond. —Jeff Conroy Several koi swim in a circle while autumn leaves fall on the surface of the water in this Gyo-tako method of painting by artist Jeff Conroy. After inking and taking impressions of the koi, the artist then uses watercolors to enhance their beauty. By using marbled mulberry paper to print on, he has created the illusion of water with the swirls of the mulberry paper. The paper itself has a soft hue and slightly wavy texture adding the overall feel of the artwork. This artwork is unframed. Contact gallery for framing options. Jeff Conroy Autumn Cotillion sumi ink and colored pencil on mulberry paper 25h x 37w in 63.50h x 93.98w cm JEC103 Gyotaku - A Japanese word translated from "gyo" meaning fish and "taku" meaning stone impression. It is the traditional Japanese method of printing fish, a practice which dates back to the mid-1800s. This form of nature printing was used by fishermen to record their catches, but has also become an art form of its own. Gyotaku is a Japanese method of printmaking that traditionally utilizes fish, sea creatures or similar subjects as printing "plates" in its process. The literal translation of the word is "fish stone rubbing...

Secret Meadow (signed twice with inscription to art critic) letter of provenance
By Wolf Kahn
Located in New York, NY
Wolf Kahn Secret Meadow (signed twice with unique personal inscription to renowned art critic, with letter of provenance), 1974 Pastel on Paper - signed twice and hand inscribed, accompanied by letter of provenance Signed lower left front, titled lower middle, and inscribed, dated and signed again on the lower middle and right front Frame Included: elegantly matted and framed in a blond wood museum quality frame with UV plexiglass This poignant yellow pastel landscape is by the renowned painter Wolf Kahn, whose work is famously characterized by abstraction and figuration, as his gorgeously colored landscapes transform into color fields. This particular work is special because it came from the private collection of distinguished art critic and artist Lawrence (Larry) Campbell, who received it as a gift from Wolf Kahn in 1974. It is accompanied by a hand signed and dated Letter of Provenance from Mr. Campbell's daughter which reads, "This painting has been in my home since 1974 when it was given to my father, the late Lawrence (Larry) Campbell, by the artist, Wolf Kahn. In the lower right hand corner of the painting, Mr. Kahn wrote in pencil, 'To Larry in friendship- Wolf 1974.' My father was also a painter, a Director at the Arts Students League of New York, Professor of Art at Pratt Institute & Brooklyn College and an Art Critic for Art News and Art in America Magazines, for over 50 years." The work is also hand signed by the artist, lower left, so it bears two signatures. (For security purposes, the letter is not reproduced here, but the buyer of this work will receive the original hand signed letter...
