Floral Abstract Mirror Blue on Red
By Michael Kalish
Located in Miami, FL
California-based artist Michael Kalish was born in 1973 in Atlanta, Georgia. Kalish gained recognition for transforming everyday objects such as license plates and tailgates into meaningful works of art that reference a broad spectrum of American culture, from political issues to cultural icons. In 2014, Kalish began working on a series of wall and standing sculptures. He creates these multi-dimensional wall sculptures with layered laser-cut aluminum or colored acrylic with depths ranging from 5 to 12 inches. Kalish designs these pieces so that the viewer must find the exact vantage point where the sculpture is no longer abstract, and the true image comes into focus. Kalish has been featured in the NY Times, Time Magazine, The LA Times, Art in America, and USA Today. Kalish has had several museum exhibitions, and countless prominent public and private art collections worldwide own his work, including the US Embassy in Moscow, Ford Motor...

Diptyque - "The Ride of the Knight" - Swisse
By Antoine Rose
Located in Miami, FL
Aerial photography. Limited and signed edition, number 2 of 8. Originally from Belgium, Antoine Rose is a self-taught photographer who started acquiring the necessary skills to capture and model the light through the lens of his camera at the age of 8 years old. Over time, he developed an ardent passion for photography, travels and the sea. He was the official photographer of the kitesurfing world cup for several consecutive years and has traveled around the globe, from South Africa to Istanbul, in order to capture those magic moments. Antoine is a published artist with major international brands who have commissioned his materials for worldwide advertising campaigns. In his latest series, rose approach to photography became more minimalist, trying to convert ordinary scenes, landscapes or objects into pieces of art. Up in the air series Antoine rose has commenced working on “up in the air” series in 2002, while he was shooting the kitesurfing world cup in Rio de Janeiro; being perfectionist, he dedicated a couple of years on refining his ideas. The latest images of the series, on display in the current show, were shot around the Hamptons shorelines and have recently been featured at the photo fever art fair in Brussels, Belgium and at the 2012 fall edition of the affordable art fair in New York, receiving a very warm welcome from the audience. In an interview, the artist confessed about his adventurous working process: “shooting from helicopters, all doors removed, 300 feet above earth at 20 knots and getting tack sharp images that can be printed as large as 120 inches is quite a challenge”. Indeed, his works are oversized photographs...

Located in Miami, FL
Hunt Rettig is known for his analog 3D assemblages that produce the illusion of 2D, backlit, digital illustrations. Rettig’s process-based discipline is a continual quest to transform quotidian material into the sublime. In Rettig’s hands, moldable synthetics and reflective acrylics become encapsulated sculptures implying kinetic movement if not actuating it. He has been drawn to the op and kinetic art movement since adolescence. "If I come to a fork in the road, my inclination is to continue going straight." An explorer of both geographic and psychological terrain, Rettig is most at home on a dirt path or body of water observing “familiar patterns that connect us as one, like source code.” Biomorphic shapes seen in Rettig’s work suggest sensual elements omnipresent in nature. How connected are we? “If it didn’t exist, if it didn’t resonate, we wouldn’t be here.” Inspiration: "When I was twelve I stepped into Jesus Soto...

Rising Tide
By Tom Lieber
Located in Miami, FL
Tom Lieber is known for his dynamic abstract expressionist paintings, which focus on the human energy, experience, feelings, and processes of receiving and expressing. Lieber uses his powerful intuition to project the state of his inner being onto the canvas, enriching the paintings with strong emotions. Influenced by nature and meditations, Lieber believes that the body can be better equipped for creating than the mind, treating the act of painting as a full body experience with his spontaneous gestures and fearless approach to the canvas. The grace and shape of his bold lines appear over subtle neutral backgrounds with pockets of dense color and movement. His artworks are included in many prominent private and public art collections, including Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, Museum of Modern Art San Francisco (SFMoMA), San Francisco, Tate Modern, London, Oakland Museum of California, Oakland, Crocker Art Museum, Sacramento, and Museum of Contemporary Art Los...

One-of-a-kind, unique work. Lyès-Olivier Sidhoum discovered graffiti at the age of 11 on the streets of Lyon, France. He and his wife lived in New York for 2 years, then moved on to Hong-Kong for 9 years. The artist developed his work through traveling experiences, drawing inspiration from meeting other fellow creatives, and attending expositions all over the world. During this period of time, he has been recognized for more than 400 projects all over the world, including ones completed for large companies. His work is also among many prestigious art collections. The works you are discovering at Markowicz Fine Art...

Amour is French
Located in Miami, FL
Photography mounted on Diasec/Mixed Media Anne Valverde (b. 1968) is a Parisian photographer fascinated by urban spaces and the graphism of landscapes. She creates a dreamlike world through the use of her photographs featuring idyllic settings, furthering this effect with calligraphy and light. After digital processing, the high-resolution prints are exclusively developed on silver paper. According to Valverde, she designs her photos to be imaginative springboards: "windows with views." Since 2016, she has worked cross-country on the DREAM ART project with neon set-up in her photographs. Through the medium of neon, she revives the essence of the word "photograph," which translates to "writing with light" in Greek. Her literal interpretation transports the viewer into a realm of ethereal landscapes. Parisian photographer fascinated by urban spaces and the graphism of landscapes. She notably tries to make dreams about people by photographs of idyllic decors. In her job, she links calligraphy and light, her two main passions. The distinctiveness of her work lies in the colorization of certain details of her photos taken in black and white. Her work has been influenced by great artists such as Basquiat and Warhol...

By Hunt Rettig
Located in Miami, FL
3-D Mixed Media Assemblage Hunt Rettig is known for his analog 3D assemblages that produce the illusion of 2D, backlit, digital illustrations.
