This elegant full length green silk chiffon Wayne Clark dress was purchased at the couture boutique Harriet Kassman in Washington DC. The dress is strapless with a ruched bodice and it comes with a ruffled shawl that can be worn in a number of different ways. You can probably find other ways to make the shawl completely change the look of the dress, or you can wear it without! We especially love the center ruffling that defines the back of the skirt. Wayne Clark is a Canadian designer who has dressed many celebrities including Jane Fonda, Cindy Crawford, Rihanna, Sarah Polley and Vivica A. Fox. This is a documented, rare vintage 1940's Adele Simpson skirt and jacket is in a luxurious black wool. The flattering double breasted jacket has an exaggerated notched collar, shoulder pads for structure, and a cinched waist. The 8 front 7/8'' buttons are black wool capped with a glossy black ring surrounding the cap. The jacket has shoulder pads for structure and the sleeve cuffs fold over forming triangles that point towards the back of the jacket, creating a two extruding mirrored points on each sleeve. We have documented the jacket from Fall/Winter 1947. We aren't sure if the unlabeled skirt is original to the suit but are including it because it came from the same estate and was worn with the jacket by the original owner.. The straight skirt is in a black wool crepe and it is defined with 2 pleats in front and 2 pleats in back.
