Gordon Cook was born in 1927 in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington where he received his B.F.A in 1950. Cook then went on to study fundamentals and life drawing at The American Academy of Art* in Chicago. The same year he studied intaglio* printmaking with Vera Berdich at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago*. He took graduate courses and continued studying intaglio printmaking under artist Mauricio Lasansky at the State University of Iowa.
In 1951, Cook moved to San Francisco. Soon after his works received the journeyman's card in International Typographical Union, Local 21. He began exhibiting his prints, drawings, and paintings at the Porpoise Gallery in San Francisco. Four years later, Cook became a charter member of the Bay Printmakers Society and exhibited in their annual exhibitions at the Oakland Art Museum for the next five years. His etchings portrayed mainly San Francisco landscapes such as the Golden Gate Park, Diamond Heights, and Lake Merced as well as flowers, especially roses.
He participated in his first weekly drawing group with artist Alvin Light, Manuel Neri, Joan Brown, and William H. Brown. Cook also taught at the San Francisco Art Institute*. His etchings where exhibited in a one-man exhibition at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, in the Achenbach Foundation for Graphic Arts. At this point Cook returned to painting. Bernard Epstein was born in Grodno Poland in 1910. He came to Worcester MA in 1921, where he studied art at the Worcester Art Museum School. He pursued his art studies in Boston, graduating with a B.A. from Massachusetts College of Art in Boston and with a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts from Boston University. He continued his art studies in New York, where he attended the National Academy of Fine Arts in New York City, studying under the tutelage of Leon Kroll and Herbert Barnett. (2)
He was the Art supervisor for the Uxbridge Public Schools for over 30 years, retiring in 1970 to pursue his interest in watercolors, oils and pottery. He opened an art gallery and pottery shop in North Eastham, MA that he operated for 26 years, retiring in 1996. (3)

Westchiloff is an American-Russian artist. He was born in Russia in 1877, and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg; as an artist he traveled extensively in Europe and in the USA. He finally settled in New England, where he died in 1945.
He is probably best-known for seascapes (particularly of the New England coastline), but was also well regarded for his landscapes, portraits and figures, and genre subjects.
His work, especially after his travels in Europe and then in America, is closest to Impressionist in style. His favored medium was oil, which was well suited to his confident and strong technique. This in turn imbued his paintings of the rugged landscapes and seascapes of New England...
