"Water-Barge with Onlookers," is a two panel, abstract landscape painting by contemporary artist, Jennifer Blalack. Blalack's fascination with layered medium and media is readily apparent in "Water Barge with Onlookers." This substantial, yet delicate work layers skins, on top of acrylic and lino cut prints, under a white dusting of white media that engages the tactile senses as well as visual. The skins wrinkle under the layer of acrylic, deepening the depth of this work. Blalack invites her audience to study works like this, where she allows each layer to show through just enough to pique curiosity.
