The painting is signed on the back.
The whole artistic output of Robert Bubel centres around subjective emotions and arousing emotion in the beholder. The source of inspiration- that is everyday life of experiences, memories, observations, is a starting point towards mutual understanding between the artist and the spectator. The universal, ordinary matters seem credible, the viewer can identify with them, connect and form a relationship with the subject of a work. As the artists claims: “ What we can experience single-handedly and gets explicated by the artist, becomes a common experience”.
Robert Bubel studied Painting at Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and graduated at prof. Z Grzybowski’s workshop in 1997. He now practises painting, drawing and related techniques. In his works, Robert uses traditional means of visual expression established in the 20th century. He emphasises the meaning of gesture and expressive smear while studying the relationships between the performances commonly known as figurative and abstract. Robert persistently claims that every painting is abstract. His landscapes are painted with the same passion and emotional commitment as performances showing figures or abstract compositions.

I followed and progressed through gesture, organic and finally, geometric non-objective painting. The radical move for me was to discover that the real world of landscape lurked behind all that past work. My childhood in the mountains of Pennsylvania pervaded my “way of seeing” and I wanted to investigate and celebrate the infinite variety of tone, color and composition that I found around me. Sky, the structure of trees, mist and water appeared to fill a hunger to look again and again. There was mystery and danger lurking behind the beauty, and my aim was to try to avoid the cliché and explore the infinite structure of the visual landscape.
