Ceramics, Cherries and Egg - Oil on Canvas by Zhang Wei Guang - 2000s

2000s

About the Item

Ceramics Cherries and Egg is an original oil on canvas realized by the chinese painter Zhang Wei Guang (Mirror) in the early 2000s. Excellent conditions. Zhang Wei Guang, also called ‘mirror' was born in Helong Jang, China in 1968. He studied at the Haierbin Teacher University and at the Ruxun Art University. He exhibited his first solo shows in 1995 in Heilongjiang province. His first international solo show was in Boston in 2000. Having made a deep formative research about the cromatism of oil painting technique, the artist interprets the objects of the tradition through a ‘photographic' pictorial yield. His works are often still-life representations, like scenographic sets of flowers, painted potsherds and glass bowls, fruits. His little and medium size canvas show daily life objects, resting on tables of modern houses. The choice of diffuse and soft lights, with delicate and bright chromatic solutions, provides an atmosphere of silent and intimate harmony. Recovering the guohua Chinese tradition of the representation of landscape and the typical sino-intimateness of the pictorial floral decorations, his works celebrate the beauty of his culture. The art of composing is another typical element of the Chinese esthetic heritage that mirror, as shown by his artistic name, knows well and re-creates on canvas. The choice of still-life painting subjects let him perform a poetical research about the relations between the forms of daily life objects and their evocative color tones. His latest personal exhibition: his works are exposed at the china transfer. Mirror is working and living in Beijing and in the Heilongjiang province.

In 1926 he exhibited Porta Volta, at the First Art Exhibition of Milanese Artists organized by the Meneghina family, the contemporary Self-Portrait is one of the first works by him that we know so far today. He devoted himself to still life, figure painting and the alpine landscape, the Trentino one in particular, with a technique linked to his father's school and to the late nineteenth-century tradition. He held several personal exhibitions in Milan. The Campestrini family spends their holidays in Valsugana several times, sometimes as guests of Emma Campestrini's relatives. The painter falls in love with Lake Caldonazzo, depicted several times in his canvases, such as in the 1949 painting...

Floral Bouquet (Lively Still Life Oil Painting of Flowers on Canvas)
By Dale Payson
Located in Hudson, NY
Oil painting on canvas, unframed 32 x 27 inches This still life oil painting of a bouquet of vibrant lilies, roses and irises was painted by Hudson Valley-based artist Dale Payson. The range of canary and pastel yellows, emerald green, beige and burnt umber hues that span the canvas are complimented by Payson's skillfully executed impasto technique. Payson captures the essence of her subject matter and abstracts it in the same stroke, rendering each painting somewhere between representation and interpretation. About the artist: Payson studied extensively at the School of Visual Arts in New York and eventually taught at this prestigious institution. Before painting became her sole ambition, she was a freelance book illustrator and has more than 25 books to her credit. Dale Payson also studied under Robert...

Lotus No. 7 (Hard Edge Realist Oil Painting of Lotus Leaves and stems)
By Frank DePietro
Located in Hudson, NY
18 x 24 x 1 inches oil on canvas Inspired by close observations of the natural world and encounters with still moments that give us pause. Lines, shapes and colors encountered in nature, reveal the cycles of decay and regeneration that are life’s constant state of change. The work has a quiet, meditative quality. The subject is portrayed in a manner true to their existence in a specific time and place and selected based on considerations of visual relationships to formal elements of painting. Aspects of photo realism, hard edge and color field techniques are uti-lized to isolate the uniqueness of the subject’s detail, as well as emphasize flatness and illusion of depth within the two-dimensional space of the painting. About the artist: Frank DiPietro was born and raised in Scranton PA. He received a Bachelor of Art from Bloomsburg University in 1997, majoring in both Painting and Ceramics with a minor in Art History. In 2000 he earned a degree in Art Education from Moore College of Art and Design while continuing his studies in painting. Frank lived in Philadelphia for twelve years painting and teaching at several museums, art centers and schools in the region. In 2010 he and his family moved to Chester County PA, where he currently resides. Frank currently teaches painting classes and workshops at the Delaware Art Museum and Longwood Gardens...
