About the Item
A fine Mid-Century Japanese bronze sculpture.
Entitled "Summer".
By Gozo Kawamura (1886 - 1950). Kawamura had a celebrated career in the U.S., Europe, and Japan with important international public works and works held in important collections worldwide.
This model was likely posthumously cast by his wife S. Kawamura and is dated July 1950.
It is dedicated in the front with an inscription that reads "To Lieutenant Commander J.H. Holtom," likely a post-war US military officer stationed in Japan.
Simply a wonderful sculpture by one of Japan's Mid-Century masters!

Condition Details:
There is verdigris or green oxidation in spots throughout. Otherwise, there are some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age.
